When we were single my wife and I always felt like valentines day was just an excuse for happy couples to rub their glee in your face. We always disliked it and continue to do so.

That's just wat unhappy people say...
haha I'm kidding of course. I normally do something small and meaningful but we're going to Mexico the day after so we'll probably just enjoy that instead.

Valentines Day...
A superficial day invented by greeting card companies to sell more cards, the flower industry to sell more flowers, and the chocolate industry to boost sales.
Bah Humbug!

This must be some sort of woman infiltrating the board. What guy even remembers there's a Valentines Day till actual day itself, never mind starts planning for it in January?

About 10 days from now............
I'll be bitching at the TV, Radio ads from de'beers and spence diamonds for the following 2 weeks as they relentlessly try to Guilt me into buying a costly Gem.
Because only they know how I'm "supposed" to express my love and how much money I should spend if I want to avoid being an @$#Hole!!!!!.......then I'll reluctantly go buy a stupid card and struggle to find "the right words" to scribble in it!
I HATE valentines day with every fibre of my being!

Now that is something I can celebrate. Lets all go out with Lchoy, his girlfriend, and his family.
A Chinese feast is way better than some stupid box of chocolates and a sappy card.

Thanks to this stupid day being on the weekend this year, cupcake might actually expect to go somewhere like banff overnight?!
In all seriousness though, I usually do something big for her- the number of nights she let's me watch NHLCI or football on the weekends without complaining shouldn't go unrewarded! Not to mention a cooked dinner every night- pretty good for a wife under 30.

I'll be sure we won't order anything weird
Sure there is going to be dried scallops, black moss (looks like clumps of black hair), and other interesting Asian delicacies that night

I am hoping she forgets.
As a backup plan I booked the weekend in Banff. I am still contemplating sending something on Friday to where she works.

Woah. Woah. Woah. You're doing it all wrong. Valentine's Day, along with Birthdays and Anniversaries are guaranteed sex days. Any other time you get lucky, you were indeed lucky to catch her off guard.

Ya, I used to be terrified of rejection as well.....and then I turned 12.
I've got a pretty crappy batting average, but seriously though - the reward of getting even 1 in 10 is FAR worth the rejection from the other 9. Even asking and getting shot down will make you feel better than wondering 'What if' for eternity.
Was kidding about the '12' part though....took a long time to learn that lesson. Give it a go!

No idea yet. I don't usually plan out Valentine's Day a month in advance. I'm sure it'll be dinner somewhere fancy though.
