Nick Kypreos @RealKyper
Hearing Duchene happy to play the role of the rental but as of now no talk about any contract extension between @BlueJacketsNHL and Duchene. Things could change but early indication is Panarin will not be traded in hopes of a long playoff run.

... they'll lose all of Panarin, Duchene and Bobrovsky for nothing in the summer, won't they? Better be a VERY long playoff run then.

There has been previous rumblings that Wennberg would be a piece that could go back to Ottawa in a Duchene trade.

Those are not exactly what I would call blue-chip prospects.
Abramov has won 2X QMJHL scoring titles, hes small but has the skill to back it up.

News Update

Darren Dreger
@DarrenDreger
Confirming Matt Duchene has been traded to Columbus. Details to come.

Aaron Portzline @Aportzline
#CBJ have acquired Matt Duchene from Ottawa #Sens. Prospects Abramov and Davidsson part of the deal, but more coming from #CBJ

Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger
Duchene said to be excited about trade to CBJ. No extension talk at this time. Belief is the Blue Jackets are loading up for playoffs.

Picking up an unsigned and unlikely to be signed Duchene in order to convince Panarin that the team will do what it takes to win, season over season?

Worth it either way (depending how much they give up).

They aren’t going to get a ton for those two rentals.

They still have Atkinson, Dubois, Jones, & Anderson.... they’ll be fine.

If the Jackets send their 1st in the deal it will likely be in the 12-17 range and far better than the Nashville, Winnipeg, Calgary 1st

I’ll be blown away if Columbus hangs onto Panarin and BOB for a playoff run and add Duchene without an extension. To lose all three of those guys in the off season would be devastating to that club.

Thanks Tre for listening to the Fans and not picking up a locker room cancer person.

Glad you didnt trade for him or this team would go down south...

Well at least he stayed in the East for now and didn't end up on a division or conference rival.

I think Pierre Dorion might be even worse at trades than Chiarelli.

Between Turris/Duchene, Karlsson, and now this. How do you trade Matt Duchene and not get a 1st round pick. Especially when you already gave it up to get the guy in the first place.

What a disaster. Move them to Quebec City and give Ottawa the Hurricanes when Tom Dundon runs out of money.

depends. If Duchene is the piece to push them over the edge and compete with Tampa, then sure. But somehow I doubt that.

sure, they have a good young core - and maybe than can even convince Duchene to re-sign. But it's still a huge risk going forward.

Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
Although no extension at this time, OTT expected to get an additional pick if Duchene does indeed sign with the Blue Jackets.

Goalie, meh. Bob likely has a shelf life wherever he goes, and he seems to have hit it. Torts as the coach doesn't make that any easier.

Panarin, sure, but that isn't breaking news and this move and the commitment it shows from CBJ increases the chances of signing him, if ever so slight.

Duchene, all depends on what they give up today.
