McDirty is now McSuspended. Hitchcock's comments excusing #97 were just plain McGoofy.

For those two games McDavid is suspended for, he forfeits $176,565.86 CAD in salary.

You know the Oilers are going to whine about this for years.

The night is young.

I just hope a bunch of them don't go looking for that "something in the water" and end up with hypothermia.

Next time McDavid takes a dirty shot to the head we'll have to remind Oiler fans out there that many of their fellow fans thought that hit didn't deserve any punishment at all.

Good on the league to give him a couple games, and shame on GM Gretzky for such a ridiculous defense of his player. Glad the league didn't fall for that rubbish. Embarrassing.

Make sure you tell your brethren this. Any chance you have a connection with Bob Stauffer and Keith Gretzky? Woefully out of touch.

Glad he got suspended. Good to know not even the superstars are immune to punishment.

For a non-repeat offender, the player loses one day's salary for each game he is suspended. That means they take his total salary (real dollars, not cap hit) and divide by the total number of days in the season, then multiply by the number of games suspended.

This season has 186 days and McDavid's real salary is $15 million, so for 2 games, he'll forfeit $161,290.32 USD.

Gretzky is doing his job, and no connection to Stauffer sorry

Most of his pay is signing bonuses. So his actual salary is small. Does that affect it? I think his salary is only 1.5 million

No. Salary and bonuses are included.

Quote:
for "first" offenders (first incident requiring Supplementary Discipline for On-Ice Conduct in the form of a game suspension determined pursuant to Section 18.15(d)), Player to forfeit one (1) day's Paragraph 1 NHL Salary and Bonuses, but not including Performance Bonuses, for each Regular Season Game lost (1/total number of days in the season measured from the date of the League's first Regular Season Game to the last, irrespective of the Player's team's schedule)
