I have a senior dog who has been starting to slow down. I've been a big fan of her current vet over the years, but they've since retired and the clinic seems more focused on the bottom line now. I'd like to get my old girl in for a senior checkup and would prefer to go to a vet who has a good reputation for working with older dogs and being straight up on what is necessary vs what would be nice or what is unneeded. Are there any vets in town that focus more on seniors? Or have you used a vet where you've been particularly impressed with how they worked with your old pup?
We just switched to Acadia clinic in Willow Park. My old vet was vaccinating both dogs for everything, every year and it turns out there were things that they only need every 3 years! And they have been more proactive with my senior dog (lab/10 years old) with treating her arthritis.
Great clinic!
