Vanilla Mafia Sign-Up

Again, won't be up to the standards of Mazrim's games but for those who want in, I'll set up a pretty basic mafia game.

Please be available to log-in and post once a day from now through February.

Quick Rules: Outside of the mafia there must be no outside communication between players regarding the game. It will be up to individual players if they want to use the forum's invisible mode or not. Posts in the official game thread can not be edited. Full rules will be available in the game thread.

It’s pretty simple,

You are either a townsperson or a mafia.

Each day we vote someone who we believe is mafia. After a majority vote is obtained that person is lynched and we find out if the person was town or mafia. Then at “night” the mafia pick someone to kill.

The mafia members have a separate chat channel and know who each other are the townsfolk are only allowed to chat in the thread

The game ends when all the mafia are lynched or when the mafia out number townsfolk.

Some people get special powers like a detective that each night can check if someone is town or mafia.

But that is about it, it’s a relatively simple game and easy to pick up so not having played before isn’t a hinderance.

At the beginning of the game, I will PM everyone their role and create a thread. Your role will describe your fraction and potentially any special power.

Depending on your role, you will either be "town" or "mafia." If you're "town," you won't have any knowledge on any other person to start and your ultimate goal is to have the "town" deduce and eliminate the "mafia" by lynchings during the "day" period. Your only form of communication will be public in the game thread.

If you're "mafia" you will know who else is "mafia" and will be able to communicate out of the game thread in secret. During the "night" the mafia will target someone to kill.

Lynches are done based on voting in the game thread. If a majority is reached, the person is lynched, their role revealed, the "day" ends and the "night" begins (no talking in the game thread during the "night" period). During the "night" the mafia would PM who their target is and any other special roles (townie or mafia) would also PM me.

If at anytime you die, you are no longer able to post in the thread. However, you still win if your fraction does.

1b. Game thread created
2. Day 1 - this could last a couple real-life days based on the voting (need to get majority) and then night begins. If majority isn't reached by the deadline, which will be provided, then no lynch occurs and night starts.
3. Night 1 - mafia will PM me their target. Any other roles with nighttime actions will also PM me.
4. Day 2 - it will be revealed who the mafia killed and their role. Voting occurs again.
5. Night 2 - ...

Repeat Day and Night until the "mafia" have all been lynched, or the "mafia" control the vote.
