Not even close. Bowey isn't anything special.

Yeah was just going to say that the prices on D are quite a bit more than those up front.
Also i still think there is a good chance Edler gets moved and he would be a very nice piece for anyone going into the playoffs.

Bowey wasn't able to take hold down a spot last season when the Capitals had poor depth. I watch a lot of Caps games, he looks like Brodie when Gulutzan was coaching most times.

Limited viewing of Bowey, don't think he is much. Fourth year pro who was 7 or 8 on the Caps depth chart
this is really Jensen for the 2nd round pick, and a player contract to give the Caps some wiggle room under the 50 contract limit

No!
Defensive depth is the key to success in the playoffs.

Well he better pull up his socks going into the home stretch! He has reverted back to Gullybrodie the past few weeks.

Wow good job Detroit.
This has been so far a sellers market for sure.

Ken Holland has done a great job selling players. Interesting to see what shakes out with the spectre of Steve Yzerman looming.

Yikes, that's a haul for Detriot, although I'm not too familiar with Nick Jensen.
Here's his stats from the last 3 seasons:
GP G A Pts +/-
49 4 9 13 -7
81 0 15 15 -8
60 2 13 15 1
28 years old, right-handed defenseman, UFA 2019
I'm assuming he's more of your Travis Hamonic type player, lead the Red Wings with 79 blocked shots. Strong stay at home defender, so perfect for a cup run.

That was quick. Trade becomes better for Caps because it isn't a rental.
Washington Capitals @Capitals
NEWS | Capitals have re-signed defenseman Nick Jensen to a four-year, $10 million contract extension.

I think that's a decent contract for a pretty solid #4/5.

Wouldn’t mind extending Michael Stone at that contract after Mark signs long term with us at 6 x $9.5.

Yeah that contract and a cheap extension makes the trade look better for sure.
Corsica rankings have him as a 2nd pairing d-man, so with him re-signed on the cheap that makes it better than just being a rental.

If Brodie gets traded, who is the next defenceman that slots in?
Yeah, I think we should keep him.

Jensen's no slouch. He's considerably better than Bowey right now, which is Washington's focus.

I was going to say. Jensen is actually really good. I can see why he commanded decent return.
