At this point between guys who left over the winter and injuries, there are way more guys not playing for the Stamps right now, than were on the Grey Cup squad.
This is clearly a lost year and DD and crew have a whole lot of work ahead of them. I guess the silver lining is they can work out even more guys and start finding those diamond in the rough guys that Huf is always getting inked.

I was reading the paper yesterday and players on the defense thought that they were playing slow. Mainly this comes from a inexperienced defense trying to figure out their role in the defense, I would think that they're going to have to figure out a way to simplify the defense, but I haven't really liked them playing off man when they're getting very little pressure from the front 7

this is really stretching scouting to the limit, I would expect Little Huff is going to rack up a ton of air miles, but lets be really honest on this, help isn't coming until NFL main camps are started. Losing the starting back field just really sucks. I hate the term lost year because in a 8 team league you never know and it looks like a cross over is going to be very possible. But I think that this is going to be a struggle until Labor Day.

If so, I get it somewhat. Often those guys have every ounce of weight on that leg for a short burst and if you roll into it...well nothing good can happen.
That being said, blocked punts are a game changer and this is likely to make them even more rare than they are.

I think it's the plant leg as it was last night. It was the right call according to the new rules but I do feel for the rushers whether it's to the kicker or QB as the margins for error are so razor thin now.

I hate losing to the Riders but this one looks like it could get ugly. I just don't see the Stamps defense being able to get the Riders offense off the field as I figure that Powell and Fajardo will combine for 200+ yards on the ground.

Stamps now have 14 players on the IL...11 of them on the 6 gamer.
They have played 2 games.
Beyond brutal.

Have the Riders done a lot of things well this year? Yeah, I don't think they're a top tier team by any means though, and they're beatable.
I have faith that we'll beat the stinking Riders.

From what I understand Tre is working through an injury as well.

The good thing about the CFL is that it matters much more how you are playing in the fall than the summer and the east is bad so every team in the Western Conference has a chance to make the playoffs.

I thought the Esks had it bad. 12 / 9 but the Stamps have overtaken them in that department.

Bombers are as advertised: well rounded. Great defense, great running game, a safe and effective passing attack, and really good ST.

Our d has surrendered 1 offensive touchdown so far this season. That's pretty great to me.

Yep defense is pretty good. Your kicker is struggling and the offense is middle of the road.

Yeah all this hand wringing in week 3 doesn’t mean much in th CFL.
Scrap out/fall into a few wins in the next 2.5 months and be 4 and 8 or so, and if they can get back healthy, they’ll go on and make the playoffs possibly without the crossover. 2001 GC champs Stamps were 8-10 in reg season.
And with the weather drastically different in last October and November vs July 6, which equalizes things more.
Huff and Dickenson know this.
Players can’t rush back and risk reinjury in late July, when a few more weeks rest and then fully ready for the fall is exponentially more important.
And, they haven’t yet lost tonight so let’s not start writing eulogies for the season.

Interesting you could come to that conclusion. I don't seen an MOP QB on the Bombers roster. Answer me when the last time a non-elite QB won a Grey Cup. I would argue in the last 15 years only two non-elite QB's have won a Grey Cup and both times it was the Riders in 2007 and 2013 but I would argue Durant at his peak was closer than Nichols. There's a reason for that and it's going to be difficult for the Bombers to win a Grey Cup when the teams they face in the playoffs likely have better QB's. Props for being the best team in June and July though.
