Don't assume it's just "our" players. It's everybody's players. Not just in hockey. Even the stereotypical wimpy baseball players play through nagging injuries... well maybe a couple of them. Heck even folks who play pick up hockey play through an injury. Can confirm, I fit that category.

Vlader and Wolf will then compete for the back-up spot and even if Vlader loses that spot I wouldn't bet on him being claimed on his way to the Wranglers or both Goalies being healthy all season.
Or the Flames will keep Vlader and roll with a Vlader/Wolf tandem.
Either way we haven't seen the last of him.

Vladar is one of the worst goalies (like off the charts bad) in the league in terms of advanced numbers and traditional stats for the better part of the last 2 seasons now. This is not all due to a hip injury or it would have been dealt with ages ago or last offseason.
You certainly don't make your top prospect goalie battle it out with a bad backup at this point when said prospect is already starting to show that at his absolute worst, is still better than Vladar.
Wolf has paid his dues and then some this season and deserves to be on the Flames roster next year as the unquestioned backup to Markstrom or even more of a split with another veteran goalie capable of starting games.

If Markstron does end up being moved, you'd like someone more established than Vladar to pair with Wolf.

Yup. Think they should be trading vladar no matter what. If Markstrom does go to devils getting back Jake Allan in part of trade would be good.

The trade Markstrom people had better get used to such a tandem because that’s probably what they’ll get.

Basically, after the deadline, teams can only make 4 "regular" recalls from the AHL, but they can make unlimited "emergency" recalls. To qualify as an emergency recall, the team must be in a situation where they don't have at least 12 forwards, 6 defencemen, or 2 goalies who are all healthy to play.
Because of Markstrom's injury, the Flames only had one healthy goalie, so Wolf qualified as an emergency recall. Now that Markstrom in healthy again, but Vladar isn't, Wolf can stay up still on an emergency recall.

Thanks for explaining!

When these players need surgery like this and other other major type things is it usually done in the USA?

Why? So, the Flames can end up being mediocre and have a mediocre build? Vladar's fine for the one year.
For those who are throwing in the name Jake Allen for trading with NJD - Flames don't need a Jake Allen coming back taking up cap space or performing well on a contract year. Don't need a spectacular goalie when the team needs the proper draft picks and prospects. For the sake of comparison, both contracts end in July 2025. Vladar has a better cap for the Flames at $2.2M for the upcoming season as opposed to $3.85M for Jake Allen. Makes no sense.
Plus, if Vladar has this injury for 2 years now and he was showing pretty good results up until just the last 2 blowouts after the trade deadline - kind of shows you he's good enough as a goalie. He's positionally sound.

Vladar has been one of the worst goalies in the league all season. His stats were at the bottom of the heap before the blowouts.

How in the hell does the team allow him to play in that condition? That’s insane.
