Am I the only one who thinks that Dube being out for mental health specifically means he might not be one of the 5 being charged? Carter Hart for example was given a leave of absence. Might be grasping at straws here but it the difference seems like it might mean something

I'm curious to see if/how these players are going to get defended by the hockey world and hockey community, if they are indeed charged with criminal offenses.

If any of these players were under 18 when this occurred they will likely not be named.

He’s one of them. No point in trying to protect these guys.

True, but note that the alleged crime IS a violent crime.

Rick Westhead will be leading the charge and the usual talking heads will be noticeably silent, again.

Maybe but he was in the picture of the 8 at the club that dissapeared off the internet.

Did the flames not release a statement yesterday claiming Dube’s leave of absence was not related to Carter Hart’s leave of absence? Would be strange of them to do that and then 24 hours later, it turns out they are directly related.

I did have the same thought, mainly because if they're using "mental health reasons" as code for "surrendering to the police", it totally discounts everything Kylington has been through the last 2 years.

I don't believe anyone on the 2017 team was under 18. Now there could be someone at the event but not on the team involved.

I don't think many will be defending these 5. I think they will be used as examples and will never be allowed to play again, and rightfully so.

It won't look good if they continue to support him once the investigation has concluded fault.
If there is fallout, they will act swiftly and appropriately.

The Flames did not make that statement. Frank Seravalli speculated on Flames Talk that people he's heard from are saying they are unrelated.
Just rumours.

Don’t forget the pending false equivalencies of “I did a lot of stuff I regret when I was younger too, thank god we didn’t have cell phones.”

Lots of speculation that Formenton was the ring leader in this incident.
