Rain is predicted in Manchester. Odds are currently 62.5% for a draw and 36.8% for an England win. No idea where they get Australia having a 0.7% chance comes from.

Almost feel bad for England that 3 perfect days of cricket will be moot if followed by two days of rain.

That's the part of the sport I'll rnever get.

They set up this series probably a year+ in advance and can't even complete a game due to the weather.

Couldn't they at least schedule five day tests with at least one provisional rain day? Like trty and minimize the weather deciding games?

That would break tradition! Draws in 5 days test due to rain is part of the sport. So much so teams do rain dances.

They do that for the relatively new World Test Championship final. The first edition was compled on day 6. But the Ashes is for stuffy traditionalists so it will stay as it is.

Seems to be a washout during every ashes in England. Maybe they need some retractable roof stadiums.

An extra day is a good solution but would impact the logistics over a lengthy series. At the very least would like to see more flexibility to get to 90 overs a day. If there is still light keep playing til 90 overs. Also could change start times based on the weather. Start at 8am if rain is expected in the afternoon or start at 1pm if rain is expected in the morning.

Big upset in the cricket world cup today with Afghanistan winning over the defending champions England. England definitely missed their captain Ben Stokes but the rest of the team should've won.

It's a long tournament but England are 1-2 and Australia are 0-2. Sri-Lanka-Australia tomorrow, battle of the winless.

South Africa in trouble against Netherlands at the moment.

Looking like another upset in the making.

I've barely been able to catch any games because they go from 10pm to like 4am in New Zealand time. It's looking like we'll be able to scrape through with one more win, with games remaining against South Africa, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. South Africa seem to be on a mission but their one loss was to the lowly Netherlands. Pakistan and Sri Lanka don't look so hot and one of them would have to catch fire and win all their remaining games to make the top 4. It seems likely that NZ will preserve their semi final streak that goes back to 2007. From there it's just one win needed to make the final for a third straight!

And I'm delighted to see England get so humiliated. They should be cursed for all time for their stolen "win" the last time around.

India's pace attack is unreal. Having Bumrah back from injury helps settle everyone down. Then you have Shami as the first change after Bumrah and Siraj... It's like there is just no respite here. The South Africa-India clash will be so entertaining.
