I'm in Victoria for a wedding and stopped in at a board game cafe here. There on the shelf is a new, shrink wrapped copy of Fury of Dracula, 3rd ed. 80 bucks. Couldn't get one used at Fallcon for under $120 and I thought they were all long gone by now, talk about luck.

We've been playing hungry hungry hippos non-stop with my 4 year old since Christmas. Gotta love the classics.

Looks like a very cool game. Nice find.

This is the one I bought:

Tried First Martians today for the first time; pretty cool co-op game, but I'm not crazy about the app integration on it. After we've got a couple more single missions under our belts, we'll try a campaign and see if there's a payoff that makes the app worthwhile.

Good gaming Christmas in our household, we got Sushi Go, Bears vs Babies, Castles of Burgundy, Viticulture, and expansions for 7 Wonders and Dominion. Haven't played them all yet, but Sushi Go is a decent card passing game that you can get through quick with the kids. Bears vs Babies is looking like it will be fun once we balance strategy between trying to win and trying to screw everyone else. Wife and I played Viticulture today and we really liked it It has good mechanics, plays a decent length game, and has an easy learning curve. We don't see the kids getting into it but we think friends will enjoy it.

Played Peurto Rico for the first time last night - and enjoyed it a lot. Pretty complicated game but once we got into it - we enjoyed it a lot.
The slavery undertones are a bit disturbing - but the game play itself is really good.

Congratulations to Isaac Childres and Gloomhaven for claiming the #1 spot on BoardGameGeek! This has only happened 6 times prior since the inception of the BGG rankings!

Played Takenoko for the first time on new years with the brother and sister in law (not bg'rs) and had a great time. Definately would recommend it as a great gateway game to get people into board games. Slowly I am getting a group of people to play with here in Stettler. Hopefully one day they will get into games like Gloomhaven so I can play them as well.

Has anyone ever just shown up to a board game store/cafe and asked to play? I've considered trying this on some of my business trips to kill some downtime, but I'm a shy person so not sure how it would go.

Gloomhaven is awesome, got to play it this weekend finally.

The card combat system is very unique and awesome. It really cuts down on the QBing from one player and lets everyone make their own decisions. I much prefer this to rolling dice.. but maybe I am just sick of rolling dice.

My only beak is that the game is almost to massive, so many different pieces and set up is a bit of pain. Luckily my group has a dedicated table in the basement to just leave it set up, because we would spend half the time trying to organize it all.

Check things like meetup.com for events. There are a bunch.

Is that an actual expansion, or did you mean GOT Catan? I have not seen LOTR Catan before.

We got that, Orchard, and Loupin Louie for our 3.5 year old. Orchard is the one be best comprehends at this moment. With HHH he is constantly grabbing balls and putting them in the hippos mouth along with pressing the button

I've been looking for the Oilman's game for awhile.

https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/...al-oilman-game

Does anyone have one lying around that they don't want anymore or any other way of getting it?

Please PM me as I'll likely forget to check this thread.

... until you realize it's basically just a card-counting exercise. Sushi Go Party isn't, though.
