Oh you know there is only one reason someone signs with the oilers,it starts with a c and with d, pretty much the same as being let in the HoF.

Kane produced big time until last year when he was clearly injured.

Interesting to see if he's healthy.

I think it's a great, low risk, signing for Detroit.

And I agree that this should initiate a bit of an arms race. You don't think Toronto is nervous about this? And Buffalo is at risk of being left behind (again).

Once a couple teams start to stir, others join in because they don't want to be late to the dance. I still think things will start to really pick up, after Christmas.

They settled for 'Unabel', instead.

Agreed. The top 6 teams (BOS/FLA/TBL/TOR/DET/BUF) in the Atlantic division could be making moves in hopes to grab a playoff spot in the playoff race. Sometimes, you cannot just wait for the trade deadline, you've got to do it now. One would argue Horvat helped the Isles snag a spot last season. Plus, the Metro division isn't doing as well right out of the gate as I thought they were going to do.

Kane is the definition of washed and the Red Wings are a paper tiger. I just don't see it.

He's 35 and coming off a surgical procedure that is almost always a death sentence for NHL careers. Even before he went under the knife, he was flat-out terrible in almost every sense last year for CHI and NYR, and has been steadily declining at both ends of the ice for years.

He's not a good player anymore.

He was terrible because of the injury he tried to play through.

Why don’t you watch a future HOFer play before proclaiming him terrible.

BTW, he scored at a 64 point pace last season, while injured after getting 92 the season before. And was over a 90 point pace the 3 seasons before that.

Steadily declining? Terrible take. You must be thinking of some other player. He’s been the model of consistency.

Fun fact: it has been eight years since Patrick Kane's team finished with more high-danger scoring chances and expected goals for than against with him on the ice.

He is a possession sinkhole who scores empty-calorie points. Phil Kessel was also amazing once upon a time. Not anymore. That's Kane in a nutshell. He was subtraction by addition for NYR last year and will probably be even worse in Detroit this year.

Surprised he didn't go back to the Blackhawks. Him and Bedard are like spitting image of each other. Numbers are also pretty close as well.
