Canal was great yesterday. Shot an 85.
Was interesting in that they were not allowing power carts because of all the rain the night before. Was a nice pace since everyone was walking. Played in just under 4 hours while teeing off at 2:00. Also just seemed quieter and nicer overall.

A lot of times I slow play when there is a group in front of me because waiting on every shot is the worst way to play golf. Make a little space buffer in between the groups.

Then you have the group behind you riding your ass.
My first choice is to ask the group ahead of us if we can play through.

In the case I described? You would be politely declined.
When I say play a little slower I mean not tee off till they take their second shots and what not. Nothing worse than waiting EVERY shot on the hole.

On 14, do you try to clear the water to the green off the tee? I'm wondering if I'm the only idiot who'll lose multiple balls because it's sooooo close to what I can drive, but only if I'm perfect, lol. And the payoff is likely a birdie if it clears.

basically, don't care which tboxes people play, and don't care if anyone cares which ones I play, as long as the pace is being kept.

I always lay up to the left in front of the water. Easy wedge shot to the green and a putt for bird.
Btw I eagled 16 earlier this year. Hit my drive to within 7 feet of the pond and pulled out my wedge where the ball bouced once on the green, hit the pin and dropped in the hole. IIRC I heard a few horse shoe comments
13 is the one that drives me nuts. I always seem to end a foot short of clearing the water.

They fell a hole behind by the 7th hole.
I don't care either but it's quite comical when they have trouble getting it past the ladies. IMO tee box colors should be based on handicaps. It would make the game more enjoyable for the golfer and would help speed up the pace of play.

I hit my first eagle ever earlier this season, it was hilarious. I went to chip about thirty feet to the green and totally duffed it, like so bad that the ball just shot straight along the ground in line to skip the green and leave me in the rough on the other side.
Flag...bounce up....falls in.

I don't agree with the tbox/hdcp thing, but you're right some people should play different ones. I think it's one of those things that bothers the people behind them more than it should.
Like I said, keep the pace and IDGAF

Think of it this way. Golfers who hit from the blues when they should be hitting from the whites are most likely taking an extra stroke or more to get on the green. Add that up over 18 holes and the amount of time played at each hole increases and has the potential to slow down the pace of play.

Why not eliminate areas of possibilities where possible?
For example, the 3 other guys I play with on a regular basis are better golfers than myself and all play from the blues. I could join them and have on the odd occasion but have found that my game suffers and I tended to slow the play of my other playing partners. Hitting from the whites allows me to keep up with them stroke wise and allows me to be competitive with them. Plus it allows us to play a round within 3 1/2 hours. Everybody is happy.

I hate a slow pace of play more than everyone and play fast myself. I love the rounds where you can just fly through in 2.5 hours during the week and find i play less on weekends as i just don't have time to play a 4.5 hour round (kids and family)....I play with and am myself a mid handicapper (11-17 index for most of us) but we all play with pace. We have some bombers and some guys with very poor short games...it a mixed bag. My point is that distance has nothing do with handicap. For most of us its nice to have a range of distances and clubs you get when your playing closer to 6500 yards vs 5900 but the scoring and pace isn't any different.
Oh and i have seen everyone from low single digit handicappers and up chunk a driver behind the ladies tees....just happens once in awhile

You should totally be playing from the correct tee box for your handicap. I don't get why you wouldn't. Have a frustrating day playing form the blues and taking too long or an enjoyable Rd from the whites.
