Default David Blaine: Real or Magic on ABC

Anyone see this special on ABC tonight?? Some impressive stuff. Harrison Ford's reaction was priceless.

Not sure why he was doing those idiotic stunts for so many years when his slight of hand (or whatever they are) tricks are pretty incredible.

I always thought this guy was super talented but he gave off a super weird vibe. Then he got upstaged by Criss Angel and just kind of went away...

I didn't see the special but wouldn't mind checking it out. Is it online anywhere?

Damn I missed it.

I hate the living in the ice block and all the other "stunts" he has done.

But, the slight of hand tricks I love. I mean, I know they are trickery, but I can't get enough.

I hope he continues on with the slight of hand stuff and leaves the "stunts" to that guy in the d-bag v-necks in Las Vegas

Well, some of these were just ridiculous and I can't see how they were slight of hand.

I did a search on my guide and don't think it is scheduled to air again. I'm sure it will show up on the web eventually.

I didn't see this one so I don't know what he did. I recently saw a TED Talk that he did regarding his attempt to break the world record for holding his breath underwater. Very impressive.

Chris Angel can suck it.

Another magician that is really impressive is Dynamo. Some of the stuff he does is absolutely mind boggling.

Always loved his act, but the special should have been titled David Blaine: Preview or Commercial Break, since only about 20% of the show was actually showing tricks

Penn and Teller have shown that you can do whatever "magic" tricks you want through editing and pointing a camera in peoples faces and telling them to act surprised. Haven't seen this special but he did the same thing with his other street magic shows.

Exactly. When you realize that Cris Angel's flying trick involves a crane and paying the people watching to act amazed for the camera, it kind of kills the whole thing for me. I suspect that David Blaine is no different.

Most of Blaine's stuff is sleight of hand. I can do almost all of his old Street Magic stuff.

The pick through the hand stuff took up too much airtime and emphasis on the show. It looks pretty shocking and cool, but you can youtube people doing it at home. The doctor on the show was lying too, as there is a point between your index and middle fingers on your hand where there's very limited nerve endings, and you can stick a thin needle through while feeling it but with very little pain, and the elasticity of the skin there will cause the small wound to close up without bleeding. So it really wasn't much of a trick, but just a demonstration of human anatomy/science.
