Attn: IMAX Gurus - Seating Question

Hey folks,

I am planning to see Skyfall at the Chinook IMAX in the coming week. Twilight (blech!) pushed Skyfall out of the AVX screen I ussually go to.

How far back should I buy my seats for? Should I choose the second last, or third last row, for a movie like Skyfall? I am guessing the last row suffers a bit from bad sound.

It's been ages since I've been to the real IMAX screen here, but I remember being too close really sucked.

Middle/Middle, just like a normal theatre.

I prefer slightly above the middle of the theatre (both in IMAX and regular theatres). Probably about a quarter to a third of the way from the top.

I got seats 14/15 (dead center) for Skyfall, in row G. Found it to be about the perfect place to sit in an Imax theatre.

Three rows from back and middle is ideal for me.

For a normal theater, its always left/right middle and up/down middle +1 for me - right between the pair of L/R speakers there so the sound is balanced.

Given that an Imax theater isnt as deep as normal, I concur with others that 3-4 rows from the back (about 2/3 from the front) will be ideal.

As for the hat, dont worry. You'll be there. So will a chair kicking ignoramous behind me. And a popcorn flinging maniac to my left.
