A turbo engine on it's own will have turbo lag but companies are now implementing small electric motors to provide instant torque working in conjunction with the engine to pretty well eliminate lag from the driver's seat. Mercedes 48V system paired with their new inline 6 turbo engine is an example as while it provides 21 hp @ 184 lb-ft of initial thrust countering any lag. BMW is also implementing similar technology as this is going to become pretty normal going forward.

Buying most trucks for actual off-road use is a really poor choice. The bronco will likely be a mall crawler like so many others. Plastic where there should be steel. Passenger tires.... gimmicks galore..... etc

Before this thread was truncated, a few of us had discussed Volvo's Polestar brand.

The Smoking Tire did a one-take video of the Polestar 1.

About what you'd expect...styling is beautiful, technically proficient, a still-unique status symbol...but lacking some of those visceral elements that makes driving fun.

Sweet Royal Oak btw.

That brand name reminds me of a long forgotten tv show called Stripperella....

Naturally aspirated V-12, manual transmission, center seat, weights less than a Miata. Shiiieeet, it might not be the most unique looking thing, but that's about as good as it gets.

Who would've thought the F1 would be improved upon this much. Wonder how much they'll appreciate right after delivery?

It's a very modern reinterpretation of the McLaren F1 design. I think it's unique in that it lacks the visible scoops and sharper edges of current supercar designs.

Spoiler!

Top Gears 45 minute YouTube video with Gordon Murray walking you through the process of the new car was amazing.

Everything is bespoke. Even had aircraft switch makers develop all the switches so the haptics and feel were premium yet minimalistic. The steering is still manual but assisted under 10 mph for parking. The engine he wanted to rev to 12k rpm! Insane.

The entire fan system is fascinating as it adds a crazy amount of downforce from under the car.

The way the rear opens up and the doors is amazing.

I like that he gave massive props to Pagani but pooped all over Ferrari. Called most modern supercars and their wings and ducts 80 marketing gimmick with little to no real world practical use. And strived to prove it with this car.

I honestly cannot wait for the day I get to watch Chris Harris rag this thing out on a road and track.

Cannot belive only half of the 100 production run has sold only.

But at 2.36m pounds, thats asking a lot.

Gordon Murray IMO has done it again. Making the best GT car. Doubt it will break speed records this time though, or keep any records for 15 years like the F1 did. What a mind.

Also love the fact he just Saunters in to an interview in a Hawaiian shirt and a magnum P.I mustache.

Yeah I develop the best cars, let's smoke a J and drink some.brandy about it.

In the Harry Metcalfe video, I thought GM suggested ~2/3s of production was committed to. In any case, funding for the project is solid and I'm sure they'll have no problem selling the remaining units once more info and milestones are made public.

Just a hair over half he said in the top gear segment. But yeah, they'll sell out. Some even bought them solely based off a sketch he drew up in two hours lol.

His cars are an investment. But he also wants you to drive them like an everyday car. What was it he said? He sold his XP3 because he could justify driving it daily when its value crept on 20 million lmao.

Clearly F1 inspired, although I do think the original looks better. It's still handsome, but feels a touch generic (apart from that cool fan element in the back).

Oh yeah, I'll take the original every day of the week, but that's because I've lusted after that car since Need for Speed II.

I've also learned I prefer my cars to be rather analogue, which is why I'm going back to an Aston from my Mercedes.

Time to try a Lotus? I'm a big fan of analog myself, and those Evoras look pretty tempting sometimes. Although perhaps a little too analog as a daily.

Peugeot, please come to Canada!

I think it’s a great looking car with fairly decent power in the hybrid version and I’d love to hear the Focal stereo.

I'm noticing the front facing, wheel flare around the rear wheels on my truck are getting beat to hell from rock chips. There's actually some kind of factory 3M coating there of some kind, but obviously not doing much good. It's chipping right through. I'm thinking maybe of doing a Line-X coating or something similar all around the wheel well. Anyone done that and recommend a shop, or is Line-X really the only place to have that done? Ballpark cost?

When I get some time I will head over to Line-X for a quote, just wondering if anyone has experience in the meantime.
