Default Proper way to hang paintings

Hi cp

I just bought a few big 6x5ft pictures. I've neither bought anything close to this big, nor have I ever hung any pictures very high up on the wall. What is the proper way to do it? Are there are people who are pros at doing this?

Thanks

Lag bolt straight through the centre of the painting.

If it's canvas I can help with details as I've done it dozens of times.

Get a Hangman from Lee Valley. Best, system bar none. And reusable!

They're all framed in heavy and detailed wood. Two hooks on the sides at about middle height.

First I've to make sure that we find the wood in the walls for nails to go in. Secondly, they've to be hung pretty high up so taking them up there is another thing to consider.
