I feel bad for anyone who thinks that's good sushi.

There's a better sushi restaurant literally across the street from them. Not to mention 2 more blocks down 4th street, there's also Hana Sushi which is still better than Sushi Kawa

Anyways, I second Wa's and Zipang with Misato as an honorable mention

Sushi Ginza was good a long time ago.

Towa was a good experience a few years ago.

If you like sashimi, like myself, I prefer to go to a fish market and buy the salmon, tuna, and eel, all sushi grade fillets for ~$8 each. Then go home, thaw slowly, slice against the grain, and spent 1/10th the price.

Ichi Rock on 6th Ave is pretty solid. I can't remember the name of the dish, but there's one where they pile a bunch of spicy california rolls into a pyramid, put some panko on top and light the corners of the plate on fire using that flammable gel. It's awesome.

whatever you do, avoid sushi bbq inn on 16th avenue like a plague...
Their service blows and you hear countless stories of the chefs trying to pick fights with customers

I used to go there when I was in SAIT. Until my buddy caught the Norwalk virus from there.

Anywhoo, for sushi I'll throw out a recommendation for Maruju sushi on Centre St. near the Mazda dealership.

If you're up for a drive, Coto in Cochrane is awesome. Hours and service are hit or miss though...

I can also verify that the quality is decent at Maruju Sushi on Centre Street. Also, they have a great ramen bowl.
