Oh joy. >.<

Though, this sort of thing can tie up resources, esp with there being multiple ones, and have been used as distractions for other crimes.

I'd like a list of buildings...just to be sure I'm not in one of them.

Writing a huge engineering exam in a little bit, wouldn't mind a bit of extra study time. I'll refrain from saying the institution. RIP

If you had something to worry about, honestly, you'd already be notified.

Someone should check and make sure the vault of the Bellagio isn't being robbed right now.

My inbox is really “blowing up” with these spam emails, a few of our clients are getting them.

It’s a bitcoin extortion scam, and a really stupid one at that.

Got evacuated at 11th Ave Place for about an hour, but it seemed pretty low key.

Don’t worry. Chicken On the Way is not one of the targets.

I might take this time to have folks use this to check in with their company/boss/building on what/how to do an evacuation, or if your building even has a plan or a way to get that info to you in a timely manner. How do they expect you to get this knowledge? Is it announced through the building? Do they expect CPS to call every desk in the building (no kidding, some do...)? Do they email a warning out? If you are in a high rise building, do you know where the nearest staircase is? Or the next-nearest?

This is all good info to know, before you need to use it.

I imagine Fuzz's escape goes something like this...

Hmmm...I'm thinking these clowns haven't looked at the price of bitcoin in a while. Perhaps a year ago might've been more lucrative for them.

They’re asking for 20K USD paid in Bitcoin, the worth of Bitcoin is irrelevant as the purpose is making it hard to track the end-location.

Here's the email we received today from a Russian IP address:

"-----Original Message-----
From: Frank@trimadison.com (Piper Constante) <Frank@trimadison.com>
Sent: Thursday, December 13, 2018 1:11 PM

Subject: Do not panic

My man has hidden an explosive device (lead azide) in the building where your business is located. My mercenary assembled the explosive device under my direction. It can be hidden anywhere because of its small size, it can not damage the structure of the building, but if it detonates there will be many victims.
My man keeps the area under the control. If any unusual behavioror policeman is noticed the device will be exploded.
I can withdraw my recruited person if you make a transfer. 20'000 usd is the cost for your life. Pay it to me in BTC and I warrant that I will withdraw my mercenary and the bomb won't detonate. But do not try to fool me- my guarantee will become actual only after 3 confirms in blockchain.

My payment details (BTC address): 1Dnw2qJxGFCZdE3PzCaVioBB9zERc7SzRB

You have to transfer money by the end of the workday. If you are late with the transaction the device will explode.
Nothing personal this is just a business, if you don’t send me the bitcoins and the explosive device explodes, next time other commercial enterprises will send me more bitcoins, because this is not a one-time action.
For my safety, I will not visit this email account. I monitor my address every 30 minutes and if I see the money I will order my mercenary to get away.

If a bomb detonates and the authorities read this letter:
We are not terrorists and do not assume liability for explosions in other places."

I can't believe people called the cops on this. I'm like...you want me to transfer 20k to bitcoin? I'll take my chances with the bomb!

Also, I love the disclaimer at the end.
