She's also a bit of a nut? I dont know much about her real personality.

But that aside, she's an awful host. I dont know what it is, whether she does zero pre-game work into knowing at least what the rules are or what the answers should be or that her knowledge is so specific?

When Ken is hosting he knows the answers, has a rapport with the contestants and keeps the game light and fun and moving along. Bialik is so wooden and what drives me nuts is when a contestant answers a question she pauses......

Pauses.....

"That is....[pause]...Correct/Incorrect."

It just grinds the flow of the game to a halt, and when that is pretty much your only job you should be able to do it.

I cant imagine that this is that difficult, why cant she manage it? Ken makes it look effortless. Hell, you barely notice him. Perfect.

The player in the middle last night had an exaggerated jerking motion whenever he tried to buzz in.

I think he was pressing the buzzer too early at times, and if you do you get locked out for a second or two.

Ken is perfect because he knows the game inside and out. He's hosted and played a ton, he knows the pace and he's a bonafide trivia guy.

It’s official: Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings are the permanent hosts of Jeopardy! going forward. The game show’s executive producer Michael Davies announced the completion of deals with the The Big Bang Theory star and former Jeopardy! champion to continue to split hosting duties in a note to fans (You can read it in full below).

Touting Jeopardy!‘s viewership increase year over year, Davies also confirmed that Bialik will host Celebrity Jeopardy! on ABC this coming season. As for the flagship syndicated game show, Jennings will host the first stretch of episodes of Season 39, which starts tapings next week, through December, with Bialik stepping in starting in January as she juggles her commitment to her Fox comedy series Call Me Kat.

During his portion of the season, Jennings will host the inaugural Second Chance competition and the anticipated Tournament of Champions featuring Amy Schneider, Matt Amodio, Mattea Roach, Ryan Long, and more. The current plan is for Bialik to host a couple of new tournaments as well as the Jeopardy! National College Championship and as many weeks as she can manage with her commitment to Call Me Kat.

We know you value consistency, so we will not flip flop the hosts constantly,” Davies said.

At least Ken is hosting this year's Tournament of Champions... fitting that the GOAT will get to crown the best new player in the game

I'm willing to give Bialik a second chance if she does a better job of pacing, and replies to answers. And stops acting like her character from Big Bang Theory or whatever her terrible show is called.

Just host the show, don't make it about you.

The poor woman that lost last night looked shattered that she got the right answer but didn't bet enough to win, despite being in the lead.
Looked absolutely gutted.
It depends on the category but I would try to bet on myself. I'd rather bet on myself and lose because I got the answer wrong, as opposed to getting the right answer but losing because I didn't bet enough.

She posted on Reddit that she screwed up the wager.

She planned to bet enough to cover him if he bet everything. She crunched the numbers, but when she put her wager, she put how much she would have left if she got the cover bet wrong and added a dollar, instead of what the cover bet needed to be plus a dollar.

He had $15,700 going into FJ and she had $16,600. She needed to bet $14,800 to tie him if he doubled. That would have left her $1,800 if she was wrong. Her bet was $1,801 instead of $14,801.

She realized her mistake almost immediately after she locked in the wager, but it was too late.

Hope the second chance tournament becomes a yearly thing now, she definitely deserves a second chance after that unfortunate wager

Tournament of Champions starts tonight. Should be a fun one with Matt Amodio, Amy Schneider, Mattea Roach and more.

Checking this thread over lunch and it reminded me I need to pick up some beer honoring Mattea Roach

I'm literally having lunch right by Big Spruce Brewery.

I'll let you know how it is!

They certainly have cranked up the level of difficulty in this tourney. Which isn't surprising.

My most hated category and the one I'm most ignorant of. My automatic response is always Walt Whitman. Apparently I am not the only one with that strategy.
