Voynov wins petition to clear his record, potentially clearing his return to NHL
https://twitter.com/user/status/1013835067842387968
The only obstacle left in his path to return to the NHL is what Bettman decides to do.
Bettman can outright say no (which might bring up some legal challenges with the PA).
He could also impose a suspension on Voynov, and then allow Voynov to play after the suspension is done.
Kings still hold his rights.

Bettman will just let LA do whatever they want. Might give them a compensation pick for their trouble and extra cap space

It definitely was a collision and I don't want to debate the merits of the whole Wideman saga right now but he did appear to be concussed and focused on returning to the bench. That's a debate for another day though ~ sorry to derail the thread so soon.

What if Jankowski bumped a ref?

I kind of hope he trains, comes back to NA, try’s out, and none of the 31 teams sign him.

This isn't good at all.
Don't like to see a division rival suddenly conjure up a legit top 4 RHD out of thin air.

And why not toss in some hookers and blow while he lets LA get away with murder?

The word from some LA media is that the Kings have no interest in signing him. Most likely going to trade him if he is allowed back

I hope this would never be considered the "depth" on the blue line Treliving considers.

I thought they'd softened their stance on that but could be wrong.
Either way, it's a conjured up asset.

If he paid his legal dues and restitution. I have no issues with this decision. Some team will take a flyer on him as long as he can play at a good level.

I'll lose respect for any team that gives this pig a contract.
(Kinda graphic, a guy posted it to Reddit in the thread saying Voynov was cleared.)

If LA wanted to take a stand, they could just not play or trade him.

As was discussed in the other thread, if they let a guy who drove drunk and killed his teammate return to the NHL then I don't see why you can't let a guy who has a record of domestic assault.
The standard was set, they need to follow it. Unless they wanted to take a stand here then I would be all for it. But that might shoot them in the foot if a top elite player was caught in a similar case next week.

Different era and a completely different circumstance.
TV pundits are saying that in this current political and cultural climate, especially after the #metoo movement, it would be very difficult to sell Voynov as a positive to fans, and it would likely make the team a target for protests. I doubt many teams want to take on all that baggage for a 2nd pairing defenseman, as good as he may be.
Some team will get desperate enough, but I think his return to the NHL will be short-lived before he's forced back to the KHL. 2 years or so.

Ya, because the Kings are all about being moral. Not happening.
