Seriously, is there anything more fun than watching your annoying little snotty-nosed neighbour overtly (and arrogantly) embarrass themselves? Over and over and over?

True Story:
10 games ago the Flames were tied with the Oilers (technically we were behind due to games played).
Flames: 8-5-1; GF: 47, GA: 47
Oilers: 8-4-1; GF: 41, GA: 41
Records since then:
Flames 6-4-0; GF: 34, GA: 22
Oilers 2-7-1; GF: 23, GA: 35
Just thought that was neat...

Is tonight's defensive embarrassment the one that pushes Chia to trade RNH to the Habs for Alzner?

I am loving Hitch! Oilers will miss the playoffs and McDavid won’t win the Art Ross!

man, if that's the kind of hockey hitch is preaching, that ain't going to last... really bland hockey game from both sides really, but no way that McDavid and Leon follow that script over the course of the last 3/4 of the season...
i'm no expert, but that was really ugly hockey

Edmonton's arena deal continues to be No Good:
https://globalnews.ca/news/4701081/e...rking-revenue/
Quote:
Edmonton city council will review a report that shows the forecast for how much revenue could be brought in from on-street parking for major events at Rogers Place has fallen $6 million short.
The report that council will debate at its meeting Tuesday estimated $2.5 million would be generated each year to pay off an $80-million mortgage on the $600-million Rogers Place arena project.
|
Quote:
The new Ice District Central Parkade constructed by the Katz Group opened 1,082 underground parking spaces to the public in October, with an additional 1,100 spaces to be available in 2019. In addition, the 504 parking spaces in Edmonton Tower being in very close proximity to Roger Place may further impact the city’s future parking revenues.
|
So if I'm understanding this correctly, the Oilers built their own parkade, directly competing with Edmonton's own parking? Wonderful stuff.

$6million short?
Klowe might know a thing or two about winning, if there is any concern, but he doesn’t know much about parking.

Huh. Had no idea that so much revenue could be collected from derelict vehicles up on blocks...

Oh... wait...
Quote:
The details will follow, but in short, Katz made the deal with Bassin not because he was interested in the welfare of fans in Erie. Instead, if he could quietly buy the Otters, he could move them to Hamilton and take control of his ultimate prize – the hockey lease at Copps Coliseum – even though a fellow NHL owner, Michael Andlauer, was the existing leaseholder at the Hamilton arena. Andlauer, who made his fortune in the transportation and logistics industries, has a minority stake in the Montreal Canadiens and also owns their American Hockey League farm team, the Hamilton Bulldogs.
Bassin agreed to be his front man in the Hamilton transaction because Katz insisted on a low profile. No one is saying it straight out, but the timing of Katz's move on Copps in late 2012 suggests he may have been interested to use the Copps lease as leverage to get more public funding in Edmonton in a deal to build a new downtown arena for his Oilers.

Economic benefits were overstated to get an arena deal done? How could that be?!
