Drinking sounds like it would be perilously close to independent thought which is to be avoided at all costs.

And they likely dont get invited to those kinds of parties.

Nah, energy industry consultations with Nord Stream and Gazprom. They've got guys who had some good success with this kind of thing.

We could sell more of our ethical oil if we could just be more unethical.

Yeah, "instructive" is definitely not the right terminology to use in that sentence.

This government hasn't really been great so far, but it's still early. Tough to tell what they're doing really.

Meh, I think we all know what he's getting at. Greenpeace and a tonne of the other NGOs that have targeted the oil industry need to be dealt with in a harsher light. Sure we won't send them to the Siberian gulags, but heck, Edmonton or Bowden institute is a great start.

Best premier we’ve had in a long time. Greenpeace activists are not angels themselves.

Calgary Board of Education pushes back against name change, citing cost

Quote:
CALGARY—Calgary Board of Education school trustees voted Tuesday to ask the Alberta government to reverse changes to its official legal name, after a report prepared by the board’s chair found the move could come with a hefty price tag.

Party of responsible spending, indeed.

That is seriously dumb.

If you watched the whole press conference, which I did, the context of that quote is pretty clear. Kenney was talking about how all these pipeline delays and damaging legislation from the Liberals are part of a broader attack and they need to be understood as such. His point was the UCP are trying to take a more proactive and assertive approach to the continued efforts by the Tar Sands Campaign people to land lock our resources and Canadians have so for proved to be an easy target as opposed to the litany of bad actor countries currently producing oil. Activist pressure is not correlated to the actual level of environmental standards, otherwise these groups would be trying to shut down countries like Russia's O&G. That's not happening because when greenpeace tried to protest that oil rig they got thrown in a gulag. The point isn't that we're going to throw Tzeporah Berman in a gulag, obviously, it's that a more assertive approach may be needed to reduce the influence these groups have. He even chased that Russia quip with a comment along the lines of "I'm not recommending that approach here" specifically for the benefit of people too dense to get the point but I guess even that wasn't enough for some pearl clutchers to disengenuously latch on to that and run with it. Great job Andrew Leach, that's some quality journalisming.

... only if it is proven beyond a reasonable doubt that they have committed an offence under the Criminal Code (or, I suppose, some very serious regulatory offence)... right? That's what we're talking about, right? And certainly not the Premier becoming involved in the exercise of prosecutorial discretion... right?

Just want to make sure everyone is on the same page.

I for one trust the State implicitly to correctly identify, verify, and label enemies of the State.

Everyone knows saying something terrible and then going "Haha jk you guys wouldn't that be a trip" totally absolves you of what you said. *Sly wink*
