- Tops among all NHL Centers from 94-99 with 440pts in 344gp
- Gretzky once called him the "most complete player he's ever seen"
- Was not only one of the highest-skilled players to ever play the game, was also one of the toughest.
- Media was billing the biggest story of a potential Colorado/New Jersey matchup in 2001 as "Unstoppable force meets immovable object." It was going to seven games of the the guy no one could stop (Forsberg) vs the guy who could stop anyone (Stevens). Instead, we got treated to Joe Sakic literally destroying Stevens' whole career with one fakeout goal put right between his legs in Game 7.
Also, this:
Oh, I forgot... the whole point of all that was four voters didn't even have him on their list, which is a complete friggin travesty.
All I care about is that McDavid is let off. Thank god. I'm sick of his pre-mature appointment as the greatest thing to ever touch ice before he does anything more remarkable than skate fast.
I've never heard of this guy before, but can we talk about how William Douglas ranked Lemieux 3rd, behind Messier? What a clown. And Yzerman is super underrated by everyone. The guy has the most points in a season by someone who isn't Gretzky or Lemieux.

I admit I may be blind to the diving thing, because he's quite literally my favourite player by far, but I also have two points to add to the convo:
1) All superstars (well ok may be most) will go down to draw a penalty, when I think of a "diver" I think of a Matt Cooke who would literally skate into someone and then flop around to get a call. I don't think of a superstar with the puck getting hacked and slashed and crosschecked going down to draw a penalty. Are they both "diving?" Yes? Is there a clear difference?" To me, also yes.
2) Forsberg's ankle problems have been well documented, and it didn't take long to figure out that the only way to stop Forsberg to go for his ankles. A lot of the diving examples I've seen have been him going down after taking a slash to the ankle. I'm just saying that a guy who often had to have his skates literally cut off him after a game, because of the swelling in his ankles, would probably feel this slashes a little more than others would.
As someone who got in to hockey in the mid-2000's (and had my peak fandom from 2005-2007 or so), my brain always identifies Forsberg as a Flyer. And #### the Flyers.
