Yikes. First James Wilder and now Victor Butler. Victor Butler says the team is going back on their word and denying him the chance to pursue NFL opportunities (well worth the read).

PS The CFL's CBA needs to bring back the *NFL Option Window* to allow players to pursue NFL opportunities in the off-season and remain property of a CFL team. Jim Popp is among the biggest proponents of doing this.

That was a great write up. His description of the lack of professional facilities and assistance from the organization was not flattering.

It's been like this for a few years now with the Argos as they have transitioned from facility to facility. Hopefully now with stable ownership they can get back to a more professional operation.

lol

Johnny Manziel and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats are far apart as negotiations continue between the CFL club and the former NFL quarterback.

According to TSN’s Farhan Lalji, Hamilton offered Manziel a contract in the range of $150,000 with some minor incentives, but Manziel’s camp is looking for something in the range of $500,000.

The Ticats offered Manziel a two-year contract on Jan. 7 and the 25-year-old and his agent Eric Burkhardt countered by telling the team that they had until Jan. 31 to improve their offer.

Manziel can pound sand. He's not even a proven QB. The fact he's looking for top dollar is insane. Have fun slinging popcorn at Stadiums Johnny Football.

Hamilton will probably drop him off of their negotiating list, and now that teams know what he wants, I doubt any other team adds him.

I mean, who really needs QB's in the CFL

BC - Nope
Edmonton - Nope
Calgary - Nope
Sask - Nertz
Winnipeg - Nein

Toronto - Nope
Montreal - Probably but I think they're going to give Freeman every opportunity
Ottawa - Nope
Hamilton - Yerp

Basically Manziel can wait for the XFL that might start up in a couple of years, or go to the arena league for $505 bucks a week.

Saskatchewan doesn't need a QB? Sure as hell they do. I know they just acquired Zachy C, but he's a tire fire. Total garbage. Bridge might be a good QB but all signs point to him being Nealon Greene 2.0 (but Canadian).

If he's coming to the CFL to collect a big pay cheque, he's coming to the wrong league. If he has serious aspirations on reviving his career as a pro quarterback, he should sign for whatever he can get, and prove he can still play. It's not like he even needs the money...

Hughes traded to the Ti-Cats. Ballsy move trading a fan favorite and all-time great player while he's still producing but I can't fault a GM for making the tough decisions. Still this one stings.

Interesting. With the emergence of Zylstra they likely wont miss him as much, but he is a really good receiver obviously.

Wonder if he has an NFL shot lined up maybe?

Not really surprising, given his 140,000 bonus due today.

And because they have younger, cheaper and most importantly, as talented.

actually didnt Zylstra sign on in the NFL?

So Derel Walker and.....who?

Didnt realize he was due a roster bonus that large, which is likely all this is about.

They have Walker, Hazelton, Stafford, D'haquille

The Esks though are really ugly on the National side of things.

Walker
Mitchell
Williams
Hazelton
Stafford
Behar
Zylstra NFL (Minnesota)

That's still pretty impressive depth.
