Seems odd they went with the 3/4 size plus a riser, just make it the proper size to begin with
The New Killer Instinct cap is the first of the "Pro" series. https://arcade1up.com/products/ki-pro

No riser and while not quite full size is bigger than the traditional 3/4 size cabinets.

Personally I don't mind the smaller form factor of the original 3/4 cabs.

IMO the risers look pretty dumb...like we didn't make it big enough so here is a box to set it on

I have a lot of full size arcade games though so maybe its just what they look like sitting next to the real deal

I would be all over a 720 cabinet, it has controls that are hard to emulate and it looks rad

I've got this setup at my office only without the seat.

From the redflag deals thread it sounds like somebody picked up a Capcom Legacy, and a Namco Legacy edition in Shawnessey last night.

If it wasn't for stupid work I'd go out to try to find one of them this morning.

My tax appointment may have to be an extra 30 minutes this year

I used to play the real one at the U of C arcade every day since it was the only game that was still 25 cents.

I don't want to sound eliteist but these 1UP are poorly emulated over priced systems. They look really cool and I imagine having a bunch setup at home would look pretty awesome but for what they are you are so much better off with a MAME cabinet.

For me half the appeal is the mood / vibe they bring to a space. Half the time I just leave them in attract mode ain the background while I watch a Flames game. The 3/4 size is perfect for homes. As you can see in my picture, I am able to fit 3 cabinets in the space I have. On a regular size or larger cab it would be way to large.

And, they things are extremely easy to mod, so the option to throw in a pi while having a nice look cabinet is there. I did it myself.

Would disagree the emulation is poor. Turtles, MK and Big Buck all ran perfectly.

Think of it like the NES or SNES mini. People just want something they can turn on and it plays things, especially when it's an official one. Sure, you could set up an emulator with all the games, but that isn't a pick-up-and-play solution. Setting up a MAME cabinet is more work than the average person would want, and the Arcade 1UP games are a pretty simple and stylish solution for them.

I say this as someone who has spent a lot of time getting arcade rhythm games running at home on a PC (and hopefully getting some actual cabinets in the near future). It can be a lot of trial and error to fine tune everything to work properly.

For anyone that would love to mod there arcade cabinet, but not very comfortable with doing it, this is the solution I used.

https://arcademodup.com/

Disclosure / Buyer beware - Reading on reddit seems to provide mixed reviews for the customer service with these guys. In my own experience it was easy, priced reasonable and fairly straightforward.

I even had an issue with the track ball about 3 months after and after paying for shipping fixed it for me.

The instructions are also pretty rough so would recommend you have at least basic skills with what an electronic is. Having said that was basically a drop in solution that was super easy and made beautiful to match my cabinet.

Bonus, not only like 6K arcade games, it also emulates Nes, Super Nes, Genesis, Turbo graphix, playstation etc., with the most amazing being the DREAMCAST

Having Marvel Vs Capcom 2, NFL Blitz and Daytona USA made for an extremely awesome bonus to the purchase

The bolded is why you have them though.

MAME emulating a bunch of different arcade games, plus other emulators through a front door like Launch Box is a far better solution for retro games as a whole.

But the nostalgia of having these classic looking arcade games in 3/4 size is pretty cool.

I found some good deals second hand and was able to add Star Wars Pinball and Outrun seated cabinet to the collection...I'll try to post some pictures of the basement set up at some point.

I’ve toyed with building a proper system for some time. Had an og Asteroids cocktail, but the tube burnt out — sold it. Have a Pandora’s box, but it’s at the family cottage now, mostly unplayed — play speed/controller mapping is poor for so many games

Quick thoughts;
* saddened RecRoomMasters bit it.
* can’t get behind any Raspberry Pi builds
* Arcade 1ups, aren’t long term durable, but still good value

Anyone toyed with an ArcadePunks subscription?

I’d love to find a local builder, as my wants are beyond my scope. The builders I do like, Monster, Creative, Retro-Cade, ArcadeEurope (the best), are cost prohibitive over shipping.

https://www.monsterarcades.com/4-pla...upright-arcade
https://creative-arcades.com/collect...abinet-arcades
https://retro-cade.com/ (The TMNT demo, + Trackball + shipping = $4400 usd)
https://arcadeeurope.com/

$0.02

Matt —- apologies for the hi-jack

So, I somehow missed this Alberta local builder, in Edmonton.
Retroactive Arcade https://retroactivearcade.ca/product...ght-gun-arcade

Decent 4 player build.
And then the 5,000 games list…

Further reading… games list is locked. Maybe Jamma, but I fear Pi.

Contacted them for confirmation.

All good; good resources for everyone.

It’s funny because I’m actually using the Old Gaming PC you had sold me to run the Retro Emulators and MAME through LaunchBox with an XArcade Stick.

Not sure if this will work or not but here is the basement set up.

Have the Star Wars Arcade running all 30 of the Arcade1Up tables now too, leveraging the A1Pinner mod.
