The Lightning did help out the Flames as Tampa Bay defeated the Wild 4-2. Minnesota is one point behind the Flames. Perry scored a pair of goals on deflections.
The Capitals did not help out the western standings as they lost to the Avalanche 3-2 in regulation. Ovechkin scored his 31st goal of the season. Georgiev made 41 saves and only two penalties were called all game. Both of them on the Avalanche in the first period. Colorado is now ahead of the Flames by a point.
