Something definitely changed on the twitter side of things. Early tweets render fine in tapatalk - try opening this post in tapatalk and you'll see the tweet.

No, tweets in that timeframe show up fine for me on tapatalk.

I just scrolled through the funny pictures forum, and found that this tweet renders fine in tapatalk:

So something happened between Nov 13 and Nov 21, which is right around the time of drastic changes to twitter during Musk's takeover.

"Long-standing" can apparently mean "later this week" at Elon Musk's Twitter, as the company has changed its developer agreement to seemingly justify its banning of third-party clients. The change happened two days after a vague tweet about "enforcing long-standing API rules" without pointing to any.

As noted by Internet sage Andy Baio, a text comparison (diff check) of Twitter's developer agreement between the effective dates of October 10, 2022, and January 19, 2023, shows only one change besides the effective date: a new line added to the section "Restrictions on Use of Licensed Materials."

I call this en####tification, and it is a seemingly inevitable consequence arising from the combination of the ease of changing how a platform allocates value, combined with the nature of a "two sided market," where a platform sits between buyers and sellers, hold each hostage to the other, raking off an ever-larger share of the value that passes between them.

When I was in Turkey the government turned off twitter for the whole country for a bit. No doubt Elon is learning it's not as easy as "hurr durr free speech."

Rather than support that eccentric weirdo and his toxic mayhem, I suggest giving Spoutible a go. It's in the pre-registered week, and so far (outside of huge initial server demands and some normal UX hiccups on the release of a new platform), it's a great successor to Twitter.

The site opens up next week for the general public. Give it a go if you're looking for an alternative and want that familiar Twitter experience but with far better content cntrol and bot/troll management.

Note: due to huge initial demand, the site is working slow but will ramp up in performance over the next few days.
