That was dramatic as hell but ultimately more about the shots that were missed than the ones that were made.

I mean throw it with more weight as a takeout, not bring the guard into play and try and hold your shooter. Worse case, it's a blank.

But I guess the tap wasn't too difficult. It's just the nerves of the situation. Like Jones' shot in the 10th.

Yeah I think the guard is very much in play if you throw a bunch of weight. That rock was mostly buried.

As you say, I think it was nerves. You have to make a shot to win usually.

No commentary of the men's final? Rather pedestrian game IMO. It seems that no matter how many gaudrs you require at the start of each end, the top men's teams figure out a way to keep rocks out of play.

Well its going to be Jones and Gushue going to the Olympics. Not a big surprise on the mens side and happy for Gallant and Walker as first time Olympians, team Gushue are our best hope for a medal as they are so consistent year after year. Happy for team Jones as well, although not sure they will be considered medal favorites, Scotland (Eve), Sweden (Hasselborg) and Switzerland (Tirinzoni) are the podium bets, hopefully Jones can find a way.

Provincial qualifiers begin this coming weekend I believe and the Scotties will take place earlier this year then in the past do to the Olympic dates.

Hit social media last night, as a “Darren is stepping away for personal reasons” press release, followed by some responses by Moulding including a “this is BS” tweet. More of the story now out. Can’t believe the punted Moulding just three months before playing the Brier in essentially his home town. Team Botcher is going to hear the boos in Lethbridge.

Knowing Darren from junior curling I'm more surprised a team put up with him this long. Maybe he's changed in the years since, but maybe not.

Calling it personal reasons when it wasn’t seems rather indefensible by the Bottcher side.

I do agree on that. Should have just said it was a team chemistry issue and that probably would have been enough.

Well that AND saying Darren is stepping away from the game when clearly that isn’t the case. Bottcher re released a more accurate statement yesterday but a little too late.

I've known many curlers since their junior days. Very few of them at the age of 40 act the same way they did when they were 15, myself included.

Isn't '96 your birth year? Math does not check out. :P

Anyways, as much fun as this tournament is, I kinda think we'd be better off as a country in the Olympics choosing teams with some kind of multi-tournament point system or ELO rating instead of putting it all on one game.

I wouldn't be shocked if Team Canada gets booed in Lethbridge.

Australia has qualified for the mixed doubles in the Olympics!

Coached by John Morris, they have been living and training in Canmore the last 3 years.

Moulding has joined Gratten's team out of New Brunswick. High chance of playing in the brier now. New Brunswick becomes the home team!

Better off as a country? I don't know any of the top 5 teams could go and as a country we've still got a great chance. The tournaments make for great TV and helps get more eyes on the sport other then just the Scotties/Brier.

Outside of Mike Harris lucking into winning the trials, Canada has always sent good teams.

Harris probably would have won gold if he wasn't sick.
Jacobs was a surprise winner too at the time.

The 2009 Roar women's results were a fun surprise -- probably my favourite.

The Bernard rink had a nice lead up into the tournament, but if someone had asked who would win the Olympic berth a year prior, most would've probably said Jones. Bernard was pretty damn good in Vancouver and her only real mistake cost her gold.

That Roar was an awesome women's field, dominated by the Prairies.

Mixed reaction to the mixed doubles Olympic team announcement:

https://twitter.com/user/status/1481642587530219522

Went with Olympic experience with Morris. Homan is Homan.

But based on points, they aren't next in line. Nancy Martin and Tyrel Griffiths would be.
