Weather Records has yesterday at 33 cm, the 7th snowiest day on record. Certainly didn't seem like that much here in the deep NE.
The Weather Network had forecasted 2-4 cm.

Mixing tires is a terrible idea

Its not that bad, its not ideal but it can be done.
Its better that than running on bald tires. Its a 'it'll work for now' kind of thing.

As usual Kevin “just a skiff” Stanfield was nowhere near this either. Not as bad as when he was talking about the hurricane to hit the east coast this year, and basically saying it won’t be that bad, but he’s brutal.

Yeah, I know that, it is dangerous and its not ideal, but it can be done.
Its just not a 'fix' its a bandaid.
I know, my dad used to do it all the time, he'd often have 4 entirely different tires on his car based on whatever he could find, just because he was stubborn.
You have to drive more carefully, but in a pinch you can do it.

Around 8 cm in my part of the SW. This city's weather is really quite unique.

Fata that. If I have a fwd car and two good tires, they're going on the front. Fronts are more important for stopping and accelerating. Fish tails can be controlled with throttle. I know it's common practice to say best go on the rear, but it's bs and wrong imo.

The big problem with that is if you do need to slam on your brakes and the car is slightly askew, the back end will want to overtake the front and can send you spinning. That is, I believe, the main reason not to do it. It's probably less of an issue with modern cars and traction control, but that's just a guess.

Compromise. Put one good tire on the front left and the other on the right rear.

Calgary International Airport (YYC) picked up a whopping 33.6 cm on Jan. 27, surpassing the previous daily January record of 25.4 cm from Jan. 3, 1913. It was enough to make for a new monthly record and was the biggest daily snowfall total at the airport since May 6, 1981 (48.4 cm).
Friday was the seventh snowiest day on record for YYC, with the amount roughly doubling the monthly snowfall average of 17 cm.

I'm at YYC now, this appears correct. It seems the snow fell solely on the airport, but there is definitely a lot of snow here.

It was also the snowiest Jan 27th since records began in 1882.
If you buy into the conspiracy nonsense that is.

Weird. That's about an order of magnitude more than I've got at my house, and downtown I figure might have had 5 cm...

In the video on that Weather Network link there's a shot of the radar that shows how "bandy" the snow was across the city, with tons in some areas and very little elsewhere.

'Snowspiracy' FTW!!
Once again we find ourselves at the mercy of a Shadowy Cabal of Shovel Conglomerates trying to sow panic and desperation to drive sales and boost their profits!
And dont think you're escaping them with your Snowblower! They own that too and my understanding is that they have a sizeable stake in the backpack-blower market as well.
They are everywhere. They are Eternal.
Or some guy just made a big pile at the Airport and they called that 'Good Enough.'

No where near that on the west hill, and we got at least double what they did downtown. I'd say 15cm here and 10cm downtown.
And thats a physical 15cm of fluff, not the density adjusted factor that they'd use at YYC for official measuring.
33cm of "official" snow is insane. I don't really believe it but crazier things have happened. Also misrepresents what 90% of the city saw

Yeah. I only had 15 on my back deck railing (generally a pretty good indicator) and I live NEAR the airport! I was pretty surprised to see the 33cm number, and figured that it'd just somehow gone around my neighborhood without hitting it.

They are pretty much bald. Car is going to be sold shortly, so didn't want to sink a bunch more money into it. When the roads are super bad, usually take the wife's AWD SUV.
