Incoming Flames shake up

I’d be fine with this IF it’s for a younger forward with an extension/term left on his deal.
Our roster is still geared to compete.
I hope this spells the end of Brouwer and Stajan. Show me a fourth line of:
Mangiapane - Lazar - Jagr
It finally gives Lazar good linemates to play with.
Balance out the rest of the roster this way:
Gaudreau - Monahan - New scorer
Tkachuk - Backlund - Ferland
Bennett - Jankowski - Hathaway
I’ll hope for a coaching change, but realistically don’t think we’ll see one until the off-season.
Of the rumoured players available, I think my preference would be
1. Kane (w/ extension)
2. Hoffman
3. Reinhart
PP1:
Gaudreau - Monahan - New scorer
Hamilton - Giordano
PP2:
Backlund - Jankowski - Tkachuk
Stone - Bennett
PK1:
Backlund - Tkachuk
Giordano - Hamonic
PK2:
Monahan - Bennett
Hamilton - Stone

Seems strange that they would leak this need for "adjustments".
Just...adjust. Why tell us first?

And Treliving has got to wear this at some point. If he can't get this team to produce consistently he deserves to be fired as much as anyone on the coaching staff. This was a team with 100 point aspirations and they are looking pretty mediocre more often than naught.
If Treliving's solution is to deal yet another high pick to address a woefully inadequate offense, I too will be really upset. This would border on D Sutter level insanity.

Would rather the shake up come in the form of a new coach, then bringing in a new player via a combination of picks or players, that in all likelyhood have the same results.

Do we have another Marc Savard or Dion Phaneuf trade to try to protect a non-players job?

Hopefully it's a combination of a new coach and a trade. Brad has got to be in the hot seat.

Echoing @JSportsnet I'm told the Flames are looking to make some adjustments. To start, minor deal today and expect a member or two from the Heat to join the big club very soon.

Level of play and goals against has been good for a few weeks but too many points slipping through their fingers. A scoring winger has to be their main target.

This team needs two scoring RW's. I wonder what the cost will be Flames can't really afford to move anymore high draft picks after Hamonic deal. Makes me think it will be someone with term left on their contract and not a UFA at seasons end. Bobby Ryan in Ottawa has an awful contract to be sure but they might just take him for Brouwer and some marginal prospect to dump it. Bobby Ryan does have a history with Brian Burke from Anaheim and if Flames are really "all in" its a move Treliving might make for now and worry about it later. Would still need someone else I hope the guys from the farm come up and show they can add offense and the Flames do not need to trade for someone like Bobby Ryan. He is far too streaky for me.

I'm hoping the shake-up is more than just players from the farm team.

If so then thankfully Bobby Ryan won't be coming here. I am not sure who else is realistically available that will not cost Flames more high picks and top prospects. Anybody else come to mind that needs a "change of scenery" trade?.

Mangiapane called up
Hrivik called up
Andersson called up
Klimchuk called up
Gaudreau - Monahan - Tkachuk
Bennett - Backlund - Ferland
Mangiapane - Janko - Hathaway
Klimchuk - Hrivik - Jagr

Worry about where to put Frolik in Feb when he returns. No knee-jerk trades that involve any "core" players please.

Interesting this scoop is coming from Shannon.
Who does he have ties with in the organization to drop this? Burke? King?
I'd have expected this rumour to come from one of the regular media guys around here.

Brodie will be just fine if we had a coach who would utilize him properly!! If we trade him, I guarantee you his new coach will put him on the right side and the old Brodie will emerge and we’ll all be kicking ourselves!!

All I can get
|
Flames aren't afraid to bury veteran salary in the minors.
I think Rasmus Andersson is ready for a regular role on D, as are Morgan Klimchuk and Andrew Mangiapanne up front.
Mark Jankowski is ready to play a bigger role on the main squad.
Wayne Simmonds would look good riding shotgun to Gaudreau and Monahan.
Ya gotta give to get, though.

I think if you fire the coach after a short period of time and mid season you need to make sure you're bringing in the right guy otherwise you're back where you started. There isn't a ton of options out there right now so as much as I would like to see Gulutzan gone I don't think there are any coaches on the market that just jump out at you. Seems like most here would take anyone over Gulutzan but Id imagine Treliving knows he needs to find the right fit.

I noticed Burke was on the California trip. Had to be upset about what he saw. Gotta think he's involved. Gave tre a ton of rope and let him do it his way. To what end? Mediocrity.
