What to do with T.J. Brodie...
Look, Brodie's a polarizing figure, that's clear. His stat-line would indicate that he's off to a terrific start, likely making his value high, but his play has been wildly inconsistent and he doesn't seem to mesh with Hamonic.
Would you trade him? Keep him? Switch his pairing?

I had zero problem writing off last season for him but he's now been s*** for 1 1/4 seasons.
He's clearly not the D-man he once was

He isn't comfortable on the left side.
The insistence of the L-R thing by the coaching staff is the problem.

He's looked pretty great with Stone. He's not all there defensively right now and he needs to sit a game. But it's 1/3 of the way through the season and Gulutzan needs to do something. It's very clearly not working.

I wouldn't do anything with him until a new coach can try to get him back on form. We've seen the kind of player he can be.

I'd fire Gulutzan first, team Brodie up with Giordano again, and see if that gets him going.
Brodie and Hamilton have both been awful since that move and Gulutzan is too damn stupid to try it. Get a coach who isn't a complete flop in here before trading away a guy who still might have a top pairing player buried deep within him.

His points line makes him look ok but then you look at his plus/minus and watch him play he is just a terrible D man in his own zone. This isn't a one game thing, this is every game. He makes terrible decisions in his own end, he plays super soft, and he can't handle pressure. Maybe he just needs a change of scenery but regardless he is really dragging this team down big time. He needs to be gone.

Trade him before his value sinks further. He was higher regarded than Hamonic, and Hamonic came off of an abysmal year and a half of hockey and still garnered a bidding war and large return.

Do not trade him now, his value just isn't there at the moment. Change the coach, defence coach or something before pulling a trade.

If Gulutzan is insistent on keeping him on the left, move to Brodie/Stone and Kulak/Hamonic. I think Brodie and Hamonic are just too far apart to work together and a change of workload may help them...especially since Brodie/Stone at least kind of worked.
No need to rock the boat immensely. Try something new though as Brodie seems to really be struggling where he is now.

If ur not firing the coach, trade him. He's been brutal for over a year. Guy looks terrible.
If ur firing the coach, sure let's see if the guy can get him outta his struggles.
Not a huge Brodie fan overall. He's soft, for all that speed seems to get beat a lot, unwilling to shoot. Overrated a lot.

I think when you look at how bad the team plays defensively you have to fix the system and maybe the head coach before you start trading players. I realize there are a lot of ups and downs in a season but under this coach the roller coaster of extremes is basically weekly and game to game. It's just not working out.

If there's one thing which I disagree with Gulutzan about, it's his defensive deployments in all situations. Brodie on the left side has never worked and I don't get why he keeps going back to it.
Giordano - Brodie
Hamilton - Hamonic
Kulak - Stone
Try that for a change.

Try these in order until he stops throwing away games. If nothing works, might be time for a scenery change, but there's a ways to go yet.
1.) Play him with Stone
2.) Play him back on the right with Gio
3.) Relegate to 3rd pairing
4.) Sit a game
