You'd need to define your eligibility criteria better, TBQH. Matt Dumba, for instance, was born in Regina, but grew up in Calgary.

He did define his criteria clearly though. It was based simply on place of birth.

So, for a Sask. roster it could look something like:

Jaden Schwartz - Ryan Getzlaf - Jordan Eberle
Blake Comeau - Brayden Schenn - Patrick Marleau
Chris Kunitz - Tyler Bozak - Josh Archibald
Colby Cave - Zack Smith - Jayce Hawryluk

Matt Dumba - Ryan Murray
Luke Schenn - Brayden McNabb
Haydn Fleury - Eric Gryba
Derrick Pouliot

Devan Dubnyk
Braden Holtby

Coaches: Babcock, Desjardins

Not bad for a province of ~1 million.

Not interprovincial, but Minnesota could do pretty well, except in goal.

Michigan is a pretty distant second in the US.

BC isn't much bigger than Alberta. 4.6 M to 4.1M.

Wish they would do something like this in a Canada cup or world cup

Instead of team europe and team young guns

I think you could go 3 deep and be very competitive with the west, Ontario, east

A "Team Quebec" was oft-proposed in the Canada Cup era, and while it would've provided some entertainment value, it was deemed politically to be too much a hot potato/patate chaude.

They should do a 4 on 4 or 3 on 3 tournament.

The only time ever tried was 1994 during the lockout.

Bump because of the off season blues.

Four seasons have passed, let's see if there is a big change

I'll start with Alberta. Gotta think that this team would get bodied by Ont and QC

Hall - Point - Gallagher
DeBrusk - Nylander - Jost
Steel - Dach -Aubé-Kubel
Wagner - Krebs - Howden

Spurgeon- Makar
Morrissey - Parayko
Bean - Soucy

Hart
Dell

I was very confused on why Cale Makar was on the third pairing behind Mike Green at first.

It really does feel like Alberta doesn't produce nearly enough NHLers considering we have 3 pretty good hockey markets in Edmonton, Calgary, and Red Deer.

I'm guessing that per capital BC and Saskatchewan probably fair a lot better.

Yep. I was gonna be like what kind of idiot doesn't include Connor Bedard on the BC team.

And why is Bouwmeester still included on AB?

If you look into it, it's amazing how far Quebec has fallen in hockey.

Ontario: 191 players
Quebec: 66 players
Alberta: 56 players
BC: 50 players
Saskatchewan: 26 players
Manitoba: 26 players
Nova Scotia: 10 players

Alberta + Saskatchewan + Manitoba = 108 players
Combined population of Prairie provinces = 7 million

Quebec = 66 players
Population of Quebec = 8.5 million

So the prairie provinces have over 15 NHLers per million people.
Quebec only has 7.7 NHLers per million people.

It would be interesting to see the combined might of the four western provinces against Ontario. That would be pretty close.
