Who in the hell cares what CBC thinks?

The results are what matter!

Flames will beat them,

When the Flames started to overtake the series though, it became the '19 year old Sam Bennett' show.

At least give us Hughson if it happens.

That was a different time too.

The playoffs these days are pretty low in calls. Especially late in games. The opposition would have to take someone's head off to get a call your way in the last 5 minutes of a tight game.

When McDavid has a 50 goal 59 assist in 75 game season where the next highest scorer has 97 points we can talk about Malkin level. McDavid may not even hit 30 goals this season playing every game.

He was 18 at the time.

And no chance Hughson does CGY/EDM series if it were to happen. He will be with Toronto for sure.

I see CGY getting Romanuk or Randorf. But it could be Ball as well. He did a series last season, but it was like 4th or 5th on the pecking order. SNET/HNIC consider Hughson/Dorf/Romanuk as their 1/2/3 Pxp guys. If flames end up playing Anaheim, San Jose or Chicago, there's a slight chance at getting Ball.

All depends on matchups for all 5 of the Canadian teams.

But I think there's zero chance at Hughson doing CGY first round.

There will definitely be no easy matchups for any of the 8 teams. Even Chicago has to look at either Nashville, SJ or us in round 1, which can be very tough series. The only team that should have an easier time of things is whomever plays SJ.

I still think a Chicago series would be my preferred match up, not that I fear the oilers, but I do think when things start to turn south for them they would start to goon stuff up. Don't want the Flames coming out of the first round after taking a bunch of abuse from the mouth breathers up north.

Looking at everyone's remaining schedule, it seems to me that a BoA in the first round is still unlikely:
  • Anaheim: @CGY - CGY - CHI - LAK
  • Edmonton: @LAK - @SJS - @VAN - VAN
  • San Jose: @VAN - VAN - EDM - CGY
  • Calgary: ANA - @ANA - @LAK - @SJS
  • Nashville: @STL - NYI - @DAL - @WPG
  • St Louis: NSH - WPG - @FLA - @CAR - COL

Right now, the Flames are one point behind San Jose and one point ahead of Nashville and St Louis.

If the Flames don't get enough points to pass the Sharks, they probably also won't get enough to stay ahead of the Preds and Blues, who have very light schedules to end the season.

If they do get enough to pass the Sharks, it will mean beating Anaheim at least once, which will probably mean that Anaheim won't have enough to stay ahead of the Oilers.

It seems to me that the most likely scenarios are either: The Flames pass San Jose, Edmonton finishes first and the Flames play Anaheim in the first round; or the Flames drop into the second wild card spot and play Chicago in the first round.

Given those options, I'd definitely prefer the Oilers in the first round (although, I could do without their fans).
