Would be interesting to see where Gaudreau, Kane and Marchand end up in the overall vote tally. Kucherov's award to win, though.

Should have been Kane instead of Crosby, IMO

Marchand should have been in there somewhere. Kucherov will win, but I think Marchand’s had an underrated season.

Well it's voted on before the playoffs start so that isn't relevant.
Playoffs have their own MVP trophy

McDavid is a joke, he led his team to the square root of F all.

Gotta go Kucherov. And can't wait to read the Oiler media freak out when McDavid doesn't win

One of the big reasons I hate all the ‘Draisaitl Needs McDavid talk, is it gives McDavid too much credit.
He doesn’t elevate anybody else’s game.

|
Gee thanks for the explanation.
My point is about their playoff performance, or lack thereof. There was a time when a Hart trophy winner meant that team had a distinct advantage, a real weapon that helped the team differentiate themselves from the competition.
This year’s top 3 in Hart voting with zero playoff victories. Kane might be 4th, so top 4.
There a lot of reasons behind this and I actually think it’s rather interesting to ponder.

I'm not even sure it isn't the other way around. What does McDavid do for numbers without Draisaitl?

McDavid has no business being on that list ahead of Marchand or Ovechkin. I can buy Crosby over Kane for the same reason - his team achieved something - but Crosby and McDavid are top three primarily because the PHPA spends entirely too much time fawning over them, so feel like they have to justify it.

I had no idea.
And it’s definitely not a trophy awarded to best player in the sport either.

That is certainly true. And it is true of most former winners.
Which makes the lack of playoff success all the more striking for this year’s top vote getters.

Lol @ McDavid getting a nomination. Anyhow it’s going to Kucherov and rightfully so. You can say what you want about how him & Tampa crapping the bed this playoffs but he had the highest scoring season in 20 years. That alone is something that should be appreciated.

Maybe I'm used to Crosby always being a top 5 player but he didn't look all world this season, good not great. Kucherov should win in a landslide.
