Alberta's economy is also almost as large as Quebec's, but that's another story.

Alberta also matches up well against British Columbia in both regards.

But Saskatchewan and Manitoba produce more NHLers per capita.
I have always thought the roots of hockey were in the Canadian prairies so this doesn’t surprise me. Its one of the reasons I can’t bring myself to hate the Jets. There are some true fans of the sport that support that team.

Most of the 'generational' talents come from out east though.

Absolutley, thats my point - is the exceptional players, follows more of an even per capita even if there is more players per capita from the Prairies West in the NHL. If anything it probably sways more to the East.
