So you're saying Trudeau getting the boot increase our chances of getting Nenshi? That makes sense, and feels pretty win-win to me...

Absolutely. Alberta conservatives’ whole schtick is running against Ottawa. That’s a lot harder to do if a Conservative PM is in parliament. The UCP would have to actually run on their record.

No I’m saying I think Smith may be dumb enough to believe it’s a winning formula so she might take the bait. I think her party are gonna have a much rougher go in the next election regardless of when it’s held but short of a complete turnaround from the UCP if we can get our province out from under their rule before 2027 that’d be a big win for Albertans.

This is the most compelling argument I've ever heard for voting CPC. Not that it matters over here.

Smith being Smith makes it a win-win for Nenshi.

And...I always take issue with the concept of using the term 'Tax & Spend' as some sort of insult.
There will always be taxes, and the Government (City/Province/Feds) spends those taxes...on services.
'Tax & Spend = Evil!!' - ?
As opposed to what? 'Tax and Keep?'
Thats just thievery.

Okay, random guy who absolutely voted for Ric McIver the first time Nenshi ran, I'll take your opinion under advisement.

He seems more of a Barb Higgins type.
Edit: what a #### panic ad. The audio screams get something out now. It probably took an afternoon in some random suburb to find this guy. Show me the back of that truck… I’d like to know what stickers are on that back window.
I LOVE that Nenshi has their knickers in a knot. Makes viewing the sky from the bottom of this hole a little less cloudy for the next three years.

Yes. The UCP extended their window of rule, so that the MLAs can suit up and go fight forest fires during the summer. So, it's six months later than it was, but on the plus side, the UCP MLAs will be all buff with cool fireman tan lines for the election.
I wish that was a joke. That's the explanation that she used. The MLAs need to concentrate on fighting forest fires in the spring and summer, and it would be irresponsible to hold an election then.

So, uh, 6 months earlier then? We a democracy or a banana republic?

I don't actually mind moving the election from the spring to the fall to match the municipal and federal schedules. But, yeah 6 more months of their nonsense is too much.

Translation: Our corporate overlords have already accepted the fact that we’re gonna lose the next election and that their free ride will likely be coming to an end. In the spirit of a bird in hand being better than two in the bush, they’ve instructed us to extend their ride for an additional 6 months by any means necessary and they’ll hope for the best 4 years later.

In their defence it’s probably(hopefully) coming from party funds. But if it’s not…
