Love Christmas. Love the feasting and the music. The carols, choral music, and cheesy pop songs. Boozy gatherings with friends and family. Love the time off work. Christmas lights and white snow. The smell of the Christmas tree. Roast beef. Port. Afternoon pints in a cozy pub. A new book. Leftover trifle. Happy memories.
I used to hate shopping in the malls over Christmas, but I buy everything online now. So what’s not to like?

LOL somebody's a grinch. If they purchased the inflatable decorations years ago it's not really wasteful if they are trotting them out every year as opposed to throwing them in the trash because some people may think they are mailing it in even if they are just attempting to make the season fun for their kids. It's like some of you want to sap the fun out of everything.
I think we found the person with all the inflatables.

The one where a career woman goes back to her home town and reunites with an old flame who finds dignity in a low-status job. My favourite part is when she realizes she had her priorities wrong and she can find true happiness pursuing that artsy craft thing she used to love, with a hunky dude and his dog at her side.

Same boat. Love that whole season.
I don't partake in the shopping part of xmas so it doesn't bother me.
I love the feeling between xmas and NYE when stuff starts winding down, then the NYE party pops. I love NYE better than actual Christmas day tbh.

I love Christmas too. It's my favourite time of the year. I love the snow, the lights, the music, food & drink. I buy presents for my nieces & nephews and it's so fun hanging out with them on Christmas and seeing them excited about their gifts. Time with my family followed by a week off work to recharge is pretty much the best.
I didn't say it was.
But hate is a strong word. If you don't like her music I don't know why that means you hate the individual.
But certainly within the group that hates her, there is a level of it that is ugly sexism. But not all of it.
Yup. I'm a musician, I was in a band for a long long time. And I love live music, go to festivals all the time. There are a ton of regular working musicians who are more talented/better singers/etc than Swift (same for a lot of big names frankly). I'm not a big fan of her stuff.
BUT, she's put herself into this position and that's something to respect. And if she takes a political position, so what? It's not offensive, she hasn't done some stupid performative crap like Kid Rock shooting Bud Light cans, etc.
A lot of the hate seems to be around the fact that the biggest stars in verious indutries - acting, music, etc - are not right wingers.

Ha ha nope. I had a pretty crappy childhood but a lot of fond memories of Christmas especially when my dad hooked up with this woman that had a normal family and we would spend every Christmas eve at her family's place for years. It was the one time of year where it felt like we were part of a family and just the general festivity of the holiday week makes for a happier time of year for me at least.

It's okay, this is a safe space. You can show us your ranked list of Hallmark movies. Let your freak flag fly!

Celebrity political endorsements are just stupid. Most people resent rich people, so tying your platform to one isn't helpful.

Went to the movies with the family to see Wicked. Elderly gentleman arrived and took the seat next to me with his Old Fashioned in hand. Smelled like he'd had a couple, but whatever, I've been there.
About 40 min in, he pulls out a vape and just starts going to town.
I was so shocked, I turned to him and said at full volume "are you f-ing kidding me? You're vaping in here? Get the f out".
To his credit, he immediately did so.
Of course I was worried he might come back, so I almost pissed my pants waiting for that movie to end after drinking a gallon of soda.

It's become too commercialized. It's a time when we become obsessed with presents and material things that go with it. We rake up our credit card bills to get everyone what they wanted. None in my extended family unit buys presents unless it's for the kids.
Christmas should be about spending time with family and friends.
