Shaw was a 4 WAR player in both 2017 and 2018, and still only 29 years old.
Could be a great value pickup.

The eternal pessimist in me with this management team says that I don't like the signing if he's their biggest signing this year. I say that because there then becomes a reliance that Shaw will bounce back to form from 2 years ago, and generally in baseball that doesn't happen. If he's just a minor piece that they're hoping can bounce back, great. I do want a real wow signing, and getting guys like this as your big signing when big names are rumored and ultimately sign with other teams, really gets my blood boiling as a fan. If you're floating rumors with marquee names, make sure they sign. Giving false hope then signing D grade players is such a letdown for fans.

Not a crazy wow signing, but a damn good one at a very good annual price and term. I like this signing a lot. Credit to management for this one (about time).

It will be interesting to see if going from arguable the most pitcher freindly stadium in the league to one of the most hitter friendly effects his numbers at all.

It would be so cool if they made a Price deal with a good prospect coming our way and called it an offseason. That'd get me pretty excited to follow next year.

Didn't think Ryu would pick the Jays.
Pleasant surprise.
Hopefully he can perform the same in a Jays uniform as he did in a Dodgers uniform.

Yeah, if they get something good for taking on that contract I'm all for it. If healthy Price could still be a 3+ WAR pitcher.

Hold on to your butts - Jays are apparently in on Price and front runners for and the first choice of Encarnacion...

Yup, I'm at the point I don't even care if Price is a stud anymore, just give us fans a reason to want to watch a Jays game once in a while. I'd love to see him back.

That’s absolutely massive. I really didn’t think they’d get him.
A very bleak offseason has taken a 180 with the Shaw and Ryu signings.

Credit where it’s due. Decent signing. Probably a full year and 30% more than any other team was offering but at least their trying. A Price and EE signing smells a bit of reliving the middle of the decade strictly for fan interest than player effectiveness so we will see.
However, like it was when they made the playoffs, it’s the moves and money they spend and make in the season at the trade deadline, if anywhere near a wild card spot, which will show the commitment to the baseball side of things. Offseason moves are good and necessary to get the talent to a level to compete (and show off to the media and fans for ticket sales), but the commitment to making the playoffs is still making the moves to tweak the team when they need that SP or bat or RP, or all 3, to get them over the hump to drive to a wild card.

Maybe the plans for the renos are to raise the wall to the 300 level down the lines?
