They're predicting 6,000 cubic meters per second of flow on the South Saskatchewan River tomorrow, which is fed by a combination of the Bow (and thus the Elbow, Highwood, Sheep) and the Oldman through Lethbridge (which is cresting now, give or take).
The Mississippi drains the majority of the United States... most water in the US ends up in a river that leads to the Mississippi. At Baton Rouge near the Gulf of Mexico, the average flow would be like 12,000 to 18,000 cubic meters per second.
So in a sense, the South Sask tomorrow will flow nearly half of what the entire Mississippi system flows on a regular basis.
Would that make it one of the largest rivers in North America, then?
Off topic but i just realized that the draft thread has more posts than the current funny & cool picture thread. This has to be the most we've been into the draft in forever.

For tomorrow, yep...assuming nowhere also has flooding to crank up their numbers. Ohio, Yukon, Columbia, Niagara Rivers all flow about 6,000 regularly.

Am I? The MTA isn't exactly awash in money, but when the subway system was shut down by flooding they went to work to have it operational and with a few exceptions succeeded in opening up 100% flooded tunnels in a matter of days, and that was salt water corroding electrical lines. Some parts are still being repaired, but I don't see any reason right now to assume that Calgary can't recover in a matter of 2 weeks, at least with respect to most things. I mean the majority of the Stampede is essentially tents in a parking lot anyways, not exactly high tech setups.
Plan for the worst, hope for the best. For sure.
It would be a great source of inspiration and civic pride.

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.
It would be nice if there were some way to divert floodwaters to regions that could use the water. There's a drought in New Mexico for example. If we can build a pipeline across Alaska to deliver oil and pipelines across the country to deliver gas, I wonder why there hasn't been some thought to building pipelines from the midwest to the southwest to deliver floodwaters.
or is that totally stupid?

Part of this video was shot from the parking lot for Talisman Centre, how badly would you say that facility is flooded?
Almost certainly the physio clinic will have damage. I had my first appointment there yesterday and they were calling patients telling them their appointments were cancelled. When I left at 5, the centre was pretty much closed down.
Supposed to be getting picked up by family at the airport at 6:30, they're in Woodlands, anybody know if/how they can get to us and bring us back?
If they can get to stoney trail or 52st or 84st way east of the city then they can come up to country hills blvd, head west on country hills blvd and then turn left/south onto barlow trail to the airport.
