The radar changed massively once they updated it

Calgary was hit head on. Expected as much though

None of the snow so far has even stuck, but just starting to come down again

Dusting on the grass but sidewalks and road melting as soon as it hit the ground

but now 3 hours later it's starting to build up a little bit.

In the SW

We’ve got 10-15 cms out in the foothills so far. Wind has really picked up this afternoon and the wind chill was nasty when I went out to do some tidying up. Thermometer said -4, but my fingertips were freezing within a few minutes. I suspect the roads are going to be pretty gross tomorrow morning.

If they didn't bother to plow the half melted sludge today more than the single pass they did this morning, that's going to be nasty when it deep freezes

We should all pray that the plows are out in full force this evening

They've had no work for a month, so you'd hope they would be

That's what built up the massive slabs of ice.

When it was warm they could have cleaned some of it up.

If they let this sit and harden we are in shambles for a while.

Of course it's on a holiday too so those extra trucks that might go overtime are probably parked today

You do a good pass this afternoon while it was clear and warm and you're set up to be in way better shape for the rest of the week

Instead it was already nasty and slushy driving today, with 20 more cm on the way

The City has already plowed that sludgy stuff away from my neatly piled pile of sludge and re-spread the now-icier-solidifying-sludge on my sidewalk and driveway. In addition to this lovely chunky mound, thanks to my lovely neighbor who never cleared their water-runoff area and backed it up to cover the front of my driveway area, I will now have that much-desired skating-rink AND launch-pad all-in-one. Yet again reinforces that I pretty much NEED the SUV to live around here. sigh...

(oh wah wah I know this isn't the gear grinder forum... )

Been coming down pretty good the last hour or so. Already a good amount more of accumulation. Gonna be interesting in the morning - either be a huge mess if it keeps up all the way to 6am, or a big letdown of a snowpocalypse. I'm hoping/expecting the worst! *fires up snowblower

Upcoming week of -30's, man can't wait. Basically the best weather.

Add to that 30cm of packed down snow. Best conditions out there.

Just got back home from a bit of a jaunt (Bridgeland, Beddington, Sherwood, Tuscany). A lot of accumulation on the roads, even major ones. Slick underneath. Plows are out but it is coming down too fast, and the wind is causing drifts. Tomorrow’s commute is going to be a gonger.

The only silver lining is that it is getting colder, so the snow won’t be as heavy and sticky. It is actually pretty light and fluffy now.

A good 12+" south of Glenmore and Elbow. Very light & dry though, shovelling went pretty quick. I have a slight tinge of regret that I had my hand on a clearance Ryobi 40V snowblower at HD on Sunday and talked myself out of it.

Don't drive if you don't have to. Underneath the fresh snow is a sheet of ice due to the prior warm weather that you can run into suddenly if not careful.

Deerfoot has the usual Cubes driving 20 km/h, pick up trucks without working taillights and cars who think clearing their roof is for losers adding to the blowing snow. Main roads are decently plowed.

As usual when we get in a cold spell after a snowstorm. I expect the roads to be skating rinks over the next couple days before it thaws.

A good 20 cm on the ground.

FYI for CBE parents, most if not all school buses are not running this morning. I didn't get any notifications on the app, but it's in their announcements section and on the CBE Twitter.

My bike path wasn't plowed, so I turned around before I hit the first marker. WFH day...
