Coronato is my preferred pick as well.

Why Coronato over Sillinger?

Honestly, IMO the Americans are more of a flight risk than a kid from Regina.

You might be right. His name has come up.

Personally it's just articles I've read that have him slotted higher than Sillinger. His motor "never quits" is what gets mentioned frequently and his shot. Doesn't mean much, but that's my reasoning.

I just like how he plays in the flow of the game more. He is a give and go player who looks a bit like a right handed Mangiapane with a better goal scoring touch. He scored at almost a goal per game pace in the same league as Sillinger.
Sillinger looks good too, but when comparing the two of them I prefer Coronato's pace and instincts. Of course I have only seen highlights and some scouting videos but he looks like a really good player to me.
The Harvard thing does worry me though, so I would expect the Flames to investigate his interest in playing here thoroughly.

Sillinger, Coronato or Lucius would all be good choices imo.
All things being equal (or close to it) though, I'd lean to picking the kid from Regina for sure...
they'd better make sure they get a good feel for the american kids if they do choose them especially if the skill set/projections are close

Coronoto to me skates like Johnny, shoots like Lindholm and has the 3rd best motor in the draft behind Beniers and Lysell.
He's a worthy choice but size is the concern with him.

I think we can agree that it's ABL.

Nah I rather call Treliving a dumbass for taking a NCAA player in the 1st round because we all know that player is going to take advantage of the NCAA loophole leaving the Flames with nothing.
And don't get me started if Treliving idiot-cly decides to waste a 1st round on a KHL player because we all know that guy is never coming over.
This is the posting meta for the site right?

What's the hate on Lambos? I get no picking him at 12 because there are clearly better options out there for us, or is that just it? That he shouldn't be picked at 12?

You forgot that he is also dumb for not drafting Brayden Point. I mean he did grow up here.

That's it. And TBH, I'd rather Ceulmans if we were going for a D man.

I was just going to say this. His point totals in his D-1 year were close to Brandt Clarke, and he had the highest p/gp for players under-18 in the U20 Sarja League this year in Finland. He has everything you want in a top-pairing D. We all want to draft a forward, but Lambos is clearly the next best defenseman available at our pick.

Limited upside. You are drafting a guy, that in my view has upside of an adequate top 4 blueliner.
That doesn't change the trajectory of this franchise.

Agreed. I think the Jets take a swing at him. He's from around there too.
