I quite like this new Lotus Emira, the supposed last Lotus with an ICE.
Keeps all the good bits (manual, reliable Toyota engine, hydraulic steering) but upgrades the design and supposedly the build-quality. Should make a nice Cayman competitor.

Aside from probably being too small inside. I want to know how tall the guy in the video is.

Such a beautiful design. Rare car where the base engine and transmission would be the way to go. I would much rather have the overbuilt AMG engine and DCT over the old Toyota engine and transmission.
I'd want my Lotus to be as analog as possible, so it would have to be manual or nothing. Considering the rest of the car is British, I'll take the reliability of a supercharged Toyota V6 over the turbo-4 AMG. That V6 sounds great too.
Either way, there appears to be a good option for everyone. I wish Alfa did this with the 4C.

I'd love the dual clutch 8 speed auto paired to the AMG TT 4 cylinder. What a beauty that car is. Sure manuals are awesome but I honestly feel paddle shifting through some esses would equally as enjoyable in that thing.
Don't think you could go wrong with either choice.
The only question I have is what I do I pair the Green exterior with? Tan leather or black leather interior?

Green over tan is classic Lotus to me (apart from black and gold), so that's probably what I'd go with myself. Having said that, playing around with the configurator this thing looks better with lighter colors imo. Not a huge fan of blues typically, but really digging it here.
Anybody know a cheap place to buy a super basic 5x8 enclosed utility trailer?
If you don't need it right away I would suggest you keep an eye on the Regal Auctions website. They usually have various trailers pretty much every week.

So now that these dual clutch paddle shifters are making there way into more mainstream cars how are we all feeling about reliability and maintenance cost?
Reason I ask; I was offered a 2012 mitsu evo on trade the other day and I was actually a little tempted, enough to show a friend the car. Turns out we have a mutual friend whose son bought one of these, used, and the tranny went the first week he had it. A replacement was worth more than half the cars value and he eventually found one used for around $4000 and went that route. Apparently the maintenance on these things is not your average plan, fluid change is quite expensive you are supposed to service it after every track day, which makes me think if someone before you drives the snot out of it you should be on a tight schedule as well. And due to cost and difficulty there's a better chance people wont follow the schedule.
I've had my eye on R8's and Gallardo's for a while and the trans seems to be an area where there are issues (clutch for sure), so while there are some deals to be had if you know how to wrench there's also going to be a lot of cheaper cars that may look great but are only worth what can be salvaged as these things become more popular.
Or they become reliable and a non issue. haha who knows for sure.
I'll take that Lotus with a stick though, very good looking car.
No, you want them to always be in the same exact place. If they're wheel mounted they move. Not that it matters, why would you buy that with an auto?

DCTs wear like manual transmissions, and also have expensive complicated fluid flushes. We had one in our GTI and the performance was amazing but I always knew it would need clutch replacement at some point. The fluid flush at VW was $600 every 60,000km. There's a reason almost everyone is putting ZF slushboxes over DCT in the latest cars.
Shifting while cornering is precisely why. If you've turned the wheel a bunch in a corner you no longer know which part of the wheel is where. You still want to know, immediately and without looking, where the paddles are.
