I'm leery of Russians a bit just because the KHL option. I'm also leery of Euro highlight packages. Remember the Monster videos?
Right because NHL teams make offers to these players solely based on youtube videos.
Only reason they get posted is to give fans an idea of how they play.
Almost all the guys posted will be coming (if they do come) on ELCs which are two way contracts and have low cap hits.
A low risk high reward signing for any NHL team to bring them here. If they pan out great. If they don't, mutually terminate the contract and let them go home.

I never said anything about NHL clubs making offers based on videos. And I supported signing Cervenka on a cheap deal just because of risk/reward.
What I am saying is I as a fan don't get overly excited over highlight reels, because of examples like the Monster. Do you remember the Leaf fans going on about how he was going to shut down the NHL?

seems like an odd comment to make considering no one really came off as overly excited at all.
Not sure why you would bring it up.

O'Connor and agent @uptownhockey expect an AHL start next season for young goalie. VAN would likely move Markstrom, if they land him.

Edmonton hasn't developed goalies, and are fully expected to take a run at a young goalie like Talbot or Jones this summer, if not a vet.

Take a run at a young unproven back up? Like Fasth? Scrivens?

Yeah I don't think the road of continuously poaching backup goaltenders from other teams in hopes one of them turns into a starter is a great plan. It certainly hasn't worked out so far.
I'm sure a major part of that is the team in front of the goalie. Their blueline is so terrible I don't even know if Rinne could put up good numbers over there.
