I'm leery of Russians a bit just because the KHL option. I'm also leery of Euro highlight packages. Remember the Monster videos?

Right because NHL teams make offers to these players solely based on youtube videos.

Only reason they get posted is to give fans an idea of how they play.

Almost all the guys posted will be coming (if they do come) on ELCs which are two way contracts and have low cap hits.

A low risk high reward signing for any NHL team to bring them here. If they pan out great. If they don't, mutually terminate the contract and let them go home.

That's a much larger list of Roosky player coming over than in the past I think.

KHL is not a rock solid option these days so the Russian Factor shouldn't be as big of a concern as years before.

There's a TON of talent and skill over there and in the draft, I hope to see talent and skill win over scaredy pants russian factor phobias.

Yikes on the Kalnin concussion vid. Looks like a meh hit, but somehow his helmet falls off and he smokes the back of his head on the ice.

I know the flyers just picked up Gudas but since they've already got too many dmen, do you think we'd be able to pry Gudas at the draft?

Unlikely. Gudas' cap hit and capability are the reason's Flyers wanted him.

Unless they get another similar defencman with a similar cap hit elsewhere they won't move him.

I never said anything about NHL clubs making offers based on videos. And I supported signing Cervenka on a cheap deal just because of risk/reward.

What I am saying is I as a fan don't get overly excited over highlight reels, because of examples like the Monster. Do you remember the Leaf fans going on about how he was going to shut down the NHL?

seems like an odd comment to make considering no one really came off as overly excited at all.

Not sure why you would bring it up.

Just because it reminded me of those Monster videos. I wasn't directing it at anyone.

I was hoping it would have been a handcuffing 6 year deal when it was signed, but alas it was not.
Watching his breakaway 20 minutes ago his heart is just not in it. Sorry excuse of a backhand deke

Mark Spector @SportsnetSpec
O'Connor and agent @uptownhockey expect an AHL start next season for young goalie. VAN would likely move Markstrom, if they land him.

Mark Spector @SportsnetSpec
Edmonton hasn't developed goalies, and are fully expected to take a run at a young goalie like Talbot or Jones this summer, if not a vet.

Bob Stauffer @Bob_Stauffer
Matt O Connor will Not be signing with the Edmonton Oilers

Bob Stauffer @Bob_Stauffer
Wouldn't surprise me if the Oilers 2nd/3rd picks in 2015 Draft will be used to address organizational weakness in goal

Take a run at a young unproven back up? Like Fasth? Scrivens?

Yeah I don't think the road of continuously poaching backup goaltenders from other teams in hopes one of them turns into a starter is a great plan. It certainly hasn't worked out so far.

I'm sure a major part of that is the team in front of the goalie. Their blueline is so terrible I don't even know if Rinne could put up good numbers over there.

with O'Connor signing with the Sens, can expect one of Anderson, Hammond or Lehner moved in the summer.
