Chelsea through to CL, Spurs cannot possibly spurs it up now. Arsenal are ****. MU are ****. Somehow Chelsea, who seemed like the biggest cluster****, managed to hold it together better than the other 3.

The difference is United have a load of anchor contracts that are going to be very difficult to unload. The fact they're probably gonna have to pay at least half of Sanchez's wages to get rid of him sets them back big time. Liverpool spent sure, but they didn't have to spend simply to get out of their terrible spending. Realistically what United need is the Saudi takeover to bail them out, otherwise it's gonna be a while before they're competing again.

Yeah Liverpool just spent more wisely - spent $560M overall over the last 4 windows but built a strong squad through the investment.

Allisson
Keita
Fabinho
Shaquiri
Van Dijk
Salah
Oxlade-Chamberlin
Robertson
Mane
Winjaldium
Karius
Benteke
Firmino
Clyne

Well, like you said, with no draft and if the goal is to be one of the biggest clubs in the world then thats pretty much how it has to happen.

Klopp spent a lot, certainly, but look at the players he bought, their value has likely increased during their time at Liverpool and as Diane was saying; you have to spend but you have to spend well.

Look at some of Klopp's home-runs, even though they were staggeringly expensive I dont think anyone is wringing their hands over the price tags of Allison, VVD or Salah. Firmino seems like a huge win, Mane, etc.

These major clubs have to spend and buy players, but you have to identify those players well.

It's also luck. Robertson was bought for £8 million, and even in their wildest dream I'm sure no one at Liverpool thought he'd be the best left back in the league. His value is arguably 10 fold now. United haven't had any luck even with their smaller signings, almost all of their signings have been middling at best or straight up busts. But their strategy is for flash rather than function, because flash generates more money for the shareholders. Pogba was great when he was signed, but how could anyone have thought Pogba under Mourinho would go well? It had disaster written all over it.

Theres always an element of luck, but its also shrewd knowledge of the players and how they'll fit into the manager's system.

Thats the thing, why buy these players for Mourinho when hes going to stifle them and effectively drive their value into the ground?

3 straight years Spurs have finished ahead of Arsenal now? Time to go read Piers' twitter feed.

I can't tell if you're being serious or not. It's such a silly idea I really can't.

Sure. If throwing a load of money at a bunch of could care less mercenaries doesn't work let's get rid of them and get more money and try the exact same thing.

It's a culture change they need at the club. Ole needs to get control back from the players and their agents. I'm willing to bet they're one of the least fittest teams in the league.

First order of business, get rid of Pogba and Sanchez. Former is a distraction, latter is a millstone and a source of resentment regarding wages. Neither are team men. No more South Americans.

Maybe it's a good thing. Cuts that post season tour crap short.

Well into big danger time for Man City as they'll have to push for a goal, but there's always that Vardy counter. Looking good for Liverpool.

Vincent Kompany scoring a worldie was certainly unexpected.

all that trying to pass it into the net and then Kompany of all people decides it with an absolute belter. Football is weird sometimes.

I mean poor defense from Leicester, he has a week and a half to shoot. But my goodness what a strike, swerves it around Maguire and off the underside of the bar.

to be fair, it's Kompany. There's a bigger chance he's hitting it out of the stadium.

It's definitely one of the more shocking candidates for sure. Nothing to take away from though, and after all the injury trouble he's had he still comes through like you'd expect a captain to do. Definitely happy for him.

And then he went on to troll Brenton by slipping....and recovering.

They had more things to worry about than Kompany shooting from that far out. If anything Leicester was tempting him to shoot because that’s what they wanted.

Looks like Sarri is making a run for it to be closer to the Pope:
