We already know that Conroy was asking for a 1st for Tanev in the Lindholm trade. I’m a little nervous if they don’t hold him out though lol

Biron is really hanging hud fledgling insider stake on this one.

Yeah I know right? It's a weird take. But Andersson and Ranta have always been a bit inconsistent due to injuries. Far more than Makrstrom.

LA and New Jersey definitely need to trade for a goalie. I don’t see the Hurricanes giving up the assets required to get Markstrom - that team is very patient and values its picks/prospects so much. LA could use him for sure just to get them into the playoffs… but it’s tough for them to commit the assets on a goalie that has struggled more against Edmonton than any other team by far… and the Kings seem to always face them in the playoffs - and could this year again. If I was the Kings, I would not target Markstrom.
The devils make the most sense of any team in the league IMO. They desperately need goaltending. I don’t think they have any great goaltending prospects close to making the jump in their system. They have entered their competitive/contention window where they should be competing to go deep in the playoffs every year. Markstrom gives them a Vezina-quality goaltender this season to try and make the playoffs and he gives them stability in net for the next two seasons. The flames might even take back Vanacek to help with the salary this year and next year. Everything fits well in New Jersey provided Markstrom wants to go there and the Devils management feel they can get healthy and make the playoffs. If they were solidly in a playoff spot right now, I think the devils would be crazy not to trade for Markstrom. They are 5 points back. If they can gain some ground between now and the TDL, they might step up and pay the price.

That Marty Biron segment was not a serious prediction IMO. He did a short segment listing his top 5 goalie trade candidates. Markstrom was #1. He was directly asked if he thought Markstrom would be traded and he hesitated a few seconds and said yes. He didn't use any qualifier like "I'm hearing" or "people are saying." It had the vibe of guy put on the spot saying the best thing for TSN ratings

Markstrom should be dealt by the deadline. His value will never be higher IMO. Unless they play it out until the off-season, and deal him then for next years' first from whomever and a better chance at a higher pick with the season yet to be played out.
I'll also go out on a limb and say Vegas gets Tanev. Hope Conroy does it just to screw with Colorado.

I think a good 2nd will be easy to get, but Conroy is holding out to see if anyone offers a 1st.
If Conroy gets a 1st, it's a homerun IMO.

Honestly though I will have a hard time not rooting for whatever team gets Tanev.

Edmonton is the only place I couldn’t do it. Vancouver? Winnipeg? All good.
Just never, ever, ever Edmonton.
…and hopefully not Toronto. Treliving going there has actually moved the Leafs to my 2nd least favourite team in the league.

Freddie Andersen is never healthy. Markstrom is exactly what Carolina needs to be relevant.

Carolina’s window is right now, but they don’t have a goaltender.
They’ve got all their 1st & 2nd round picks over the next 3 drafts (and a Philly 2nd).
It just makes sense.

No Serivali actually said Lindholm was going to get the biggest return of our pending UFA’s. He also said Monahan was going to get a 1st and has been quite cocky about his predictions so I hope Tanev gets way more than he thought.
He has also questioned the market for Hanifin stating he has been available since the summer so doesn’t see a team stepping up with a similar package as Lindholm received.

I have no problem with the Flames signing Hanifin. I just look at the Ducks and how they blew their rebuild by blowing up their defence.
Traded Montour for a first round pick and a former 2nd round pick, both of whom turned into nothing
Traded Lindholm for a package of prospects and picks, the current 25 yr old dman being the only one worth evaluating and he does not look like much.
Traded Manson for a former 2nd round pick and a 2nd round pick, nothing came of that.
Blowing up your defence is a sure fire way to start a very long rebuild IMO.

Flames are already a bottom 10 team with this defence.
Making this defence more expensive is a sure fire way to prolonged futility.
We already have Weegar and Andersson in place as top-4 veterans. Focus on developing new D-men, and compliment with bargain UFAs until those youngsters are ready.

I got trade fever. Move Hanifin. Let's branch that trade tree out with another haul.

Trade Tanev! I understand his value but we don’t have a LHD stud ready to ride his shotgun. If we had a Luke Hughes or left handed Nemec//Jiricek - I’d be on the keep Tanev wagon, but we don’t.
Resign Hanifin!
Trade Andersson.

I’d trade Tanev, Hanifin, and Markstrom and likely in that order.
