That spring groomer dance may or may not be officially canceled, no actual official word, it may still go on but with less public exposure. Why you may ask?

The president of the UCP's board of directors, Rob Smith, in a Monday morning statement, said the party has structured support for youth and is working to grow its demographic.

"Fourteen to 17 year olds look to the 21 to 25 years old for inspiration, mentorship, and leadership… generally more than they do 56-year-old geriatrics like me!! This is how we grow our next generation station of political activists… and community leaders," he wrote.

Lol. I still have quite a few friends and family in Alberta. Many of them have kids who are in that age demographic of 17-25, and from what I'm told they all fiercely hate the UCP and are planning on voting NDP in the next election.

Maybe David Parker used his behinds the scenes veto power to ensure the dance goes on.

I'd like to see what those recent polls are that Mr. Geston is referring to, particularly about 'keeping life affordable' and 'fixing the healthcare system for all'.

My guess is that he's just pulling this out of his ass, since that's the UCP way. Someone should call his bluff.

I suspect it's a carefully worded question in the poll. I can agree to a statement that I support the government doing all of those things, but I don't support their methods or expect those methods to get the results I want to see. If they only ask the first question but not the follow-up, it will look like there's more support than there might actually be.

I haven't done a poll for the provincial government, but I have done other questionnaires that ask questions that way, where you agree with the statement but not in the same way the person who wrote it means it.
