Seravalli kept mentioning that he sees Tanev being traded for a 2nd + C prospect. He added that he could see the 2nd being a conditional 1st if a team goes deep in the playoffs.

That seems a little low from where I'm standing. That said, Frank was right about Monahan's value.

I'll take a 2nd that becomes a 1st and a B prospect.

If thats the ask I see it being met in the 11th hour.

I just don't see how Monahan could have more value than Tanev for a deep playoff run, but maybe we've seen a little too much of the two players.

I’m not gonna say anything about a player’s value, as I was trumpeting that we were going to be disappointed by the return for our players, just minutes before the Lindholm trade went down….

Depends what type of Center prospect you can get back I guess

If it's a good prospect then a 2nd and the prospect probablg makes sense.

There's too much demand for Tanev for the return to underwhelm I think.

Maybe if Conroy was impatient or fell into rookie GM traps that other GMs probably expected when he stepped into the role. But he's shown he can be patient and wait it out for a return they're satisfied with.

Contending GMs will look at what their competition is doing and feel the incentive to get their guy. The pressure of the TDL will lead to a team talking themselves into paying the price to come away with the player they want.

I hope Treliving plays hardball and tries to wait out Conroy, and comes away empty handed, or with his usual fringe add for pennies.

Tanev should be an easy first.

Monahan trade return seems like an outlier to me. I think Winnipeg panicked.

Wasn't Seravelli also one of the people saying Lindholm wouldn't return much?

Probably.

Seravalli says a lot of ####. Very little of it is meaningful.

Is that a centre prospect or a (A,B) “C” prospect?

I think it all depends on where the team that’s acquiring tanev is sitting in the standings. If the deadline were today, teams like Boston, Colorado, Florida or Dallas would be looking at a first round pick likely outside the top 25 in the draft. Don’t think you need to make it a conditional 2nd/1st round pick on that. If it’s New Jersey or Los Angeles, their first round pick can be as high as 12th overall… for them, I could understand the pick being conditional. The trade could basically be designed to ensure the pick is outside the top 25 in the draft.

But you never know… the market for him seems very hot right now so Conroy could pull off a big trade and get an unconditional 1st round pick for him.

He didn't mean a center prospect, but an average to below average prospect.

I wouldn't be too upset to get Montreal's 2nd from the Jets for Tanev.

Looks like it will be a <40 pick.

Or maybe you can get one of their previous 1st that may have fallen off the radar a bit like Heinola.

I could also see Tanev going to Toronto for Minten.

There were pretty much only two, half decent, centre rentals available. Winnipeg got one, Vancouver got one. Supply and demand.

Marty Biron on TSN is so certain Markstrom will be traded before the deadline. His 3 landing spots: L.A, Carolina, New Jersey.

Carolina? Kochetkov looks solid and Anderson is supposed to be back somewhat soon.

I'm in the same group that if Monahan as a bottom two liner got a 1st+, Tanev as a 2nd pair shut down d-man should get more, or at the very least the same. How can the "most sought after name" get only a 2nd? To me Lindholm would be the most valuable player available, but as a playoff necessity every team needs, Tanev is up there. I'd even go so far as to say Conroy probably has more than a 1st in mind, as I have little doubt a team has offered a 1st already given the Monahan deal.
