I bought a Slingbox and then used the Slingbox app for the iPhone. $170 for the Slingbox, $30 for the app, and an extra $5 per month to go to 6 GB of data.
That way it also works for football games; or anything else I want to watch. I will also be able to watch stuff on a computer if I want.
We had a pretty good thread going about the Slingbox a while ago:

Great app. Only gripes are that there's no support for the thank button and spoiler tags don't work. And I always forget to delete the signature on it.
Sent from my Motorola DynaTac 8000X Advanced Mobile Phone System using Tapatalk.

Can anyone recommend a decent Evernote alternative? I need iPhone/iPad/Mac synching, tagging, and not much else.

Do you use Dropbox? That opens up a lot of possibilities.

Some app deals for Halloween. It seems that EA is still not dropping their prices to the levels they were during they July 4th weekend. I guess we'll have to wait until American Thanksgiving for their big sale.
Resident Evil 4 - $0.99 for both iPhone & iPad
NHL 2K11 - $0.99 (iphone) - $1.99 (iPad)
Plants vs Zombies - $0.99 (iPhone) - $2.99 (iPad)
Real Racing HD & Real Racing 2 HD - $0.99 (iPad)
Jetpack Joyride (universal) $0.99 but if you "like" the Appstore Facebook page, you can get it for free. https://www.facebook.com/AppStore

Once again I just have to plug Where's My Water?. It's up there with Plants vs. Zombies, Angry Birds and Cut the Rope for my favourite iOS game. Smart little puzzles that don't frustrate or take the piss out of you. It has me in full completionist mode right now.

If you're looking for a decent RPG, Mage Gauntlet has turned out to be a great purchase. It has 16-bit graphic style and an excellent soundtrack. The battle system reminds me of Secret of Mana, and the way you use Magic is well done. The difficulty curve ramps up quite nicely too. You won't sleepwalk through this game at all.

My kids have been doing odd jobs here and they're working at paying off bikes, snowboards, etc. They get money for their bdays, and money from these odd jobs, and give me the cash to pay for these items. Is there an app for the ipad that could help me keep track of this? Or is a spreadsheet the best bet?

How bout just getting them to buy itunes gift cards and using it that way they don't have to use your cc all the time.
you can switch itunes accounts on ipad / iphones and just have it charge different credit cards or gift cards if you don't want to take your credit card off your itunes account either.

FYI - I haven't tried it yet, but I will. Wizardry:Labrinth of Lost Souls has been added to the app store. You can get your character up to level 5 for free so you can see if you like the game before buying the whole thing for $9.99.

Does anybody have an app they use for saving documents? Like PDFs, Word and Excel? I see a couple on the app store; not which ones are good.
Normally I would just email it to myself, but my mailbox does fill up quickly and pretty soon the document I need is pushed off the list.
Ninja edit- I downloaded a free app called "FileApp." It does remind me every so often that the paid version is better; but so far it does the job of storing and opening my files just fine. Only drawback is I have to add the files into iTunes; I can't just take something from my iPhone's mailbox and save it to FileApp.
