That is so so embarrassing. But players will continue to do this, till they cannot
get a penalty/free kick/booking out of this

Does Ole survive this late season collapse? I suppose he kind of has to because it's gonna be tough to lure a top manager for Europa League football and it will be costly to fire him so soon. But it's pretty clear he got a dead cat bounce rather than being the answer at manager. Winning that PSG tie was the worst thing to happen long term.

Right, but making the players give a crap is a huge part of his job.

How is he going to dramatically over-haul the roster? This is a big team with a lot of expensive players that would be very difficult to replace.

no, it's not the manager's job to motivate the players. If a player at Man United doesn't care about winning games and getting to the CL then he can go pound sand.

They cared for a few weeks when Ole arrived, then they downed their tools again. Spineless.

Honestly United should embrace a total rebuild. Liverpool and Man City are so far ahead there's no way you can quick fix this. Start playing lots of academy guys to see what you have in the pipeline and buy only players under 23. Some of that deadwood is gonna be hard to unload so probably best to ride out the next couple seasons.

Well they wont have to worry about the Champions' League anymore so that'll make squad rotation easier.

Deadwood wouldn't be so hard to unload if they'd just let it float off instead of renewing them. Players that clearly are not at the level required.

Case in point Ashley Young, Phil Jones.....

Spitty said it was "clever".

Yet when PSG done it against them it was a case of embarrassing.

Not to say Mourinho didn't deserve to get sacked, but getting second with basically this same roster last year is looking more and more like an incredible achievement.

Now we're talking. Bring back Mourinho! He'd have won multiple trophies if he only had money for one more center back.

Arsenal at least have the Europa League backdoor, arguably even worse than United the last couple weeks though. Looking like the title will be the only final day drama.

Theres no real thing as a rebuild at this level

Most teams in the top 6 current youth set ups aged 15-19 might have 2 players who are good enough to start eventually, and maybe a few more who can be squad players

Buying young players yes, that makes a ton of sense, but its not like sports with a draft

They arent going to ride out a couple of seasons without champs league being a goal

United just need to spend more wisely.

They spent $620M over the last 4 transfer windows, and arguably only Pogba and at times Martial are the only world class players they’ve added.

Fred
Dalot
Lukaku
Matic
Lindelof
Sanchez
Pogba
Mkhitaryan
Bailly
Martial
Schneiderlin
Depay
Darmian

Just not enough quality in that group with many of them just falling apart once they arrived at Old Trafford.

And yet their current approach of it being a goal has produced what exactly? Liverpool are the model to follow, it took basically two full seasons before Klopp had them at a CL level. United need to be more patient, but when you're literally a stock, your investors won't accept that. And that's obviously the problem, being publicly owned means short term money fixes are more important than long term strategic thinking.

Anyways top four all done now, even if Spurs lose next weekend it's impossible to see Arsenal overturning that goal differential.

They need to take a long hard look st the squad

Sort them into players who they can trust and can start, players who can be squad, and got to go players

Get what you can for players who have to go, again for them, money isnt an issue

Buy better, whether its rio or whomever, they need to do better

Just because they have spent wrong doesnt mean they should tear it down and play academy players

Klopp didn't rebuild the squad like your describing united should do, he spent like a mad man

Well with that result, Spurs are back in the CL next year! I mean guess if we lose by 9 and the unmentionables win or something like that, we won’t. And in this season you can never say never, but I think we’re in.
